The salary range for this role, based in California is $187,920.00 to $234,900.00. The range will vary if outside of this location.  Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Position Summary

The Division Finance Director (DFD) role is a critical role for the SGWS West Division with responsibility for managing the division level P&L for 10 states, including California, Nevada, Colorado and Missouri. The DFD acts as a strategic financial advisor and thought partner to the Division Vice President (DVP) and is a key liaison between the Commercial Finance and HQ Finance to provide division-level financial control, analysis monitoring, roll-ups, and reporting (budget & actual).

The incumbent will provide market analytics and pricing needs to drive consistency across markets and manage Distributor finance relationships. They will coordinate key Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) initiatives between Pernod Ricard USA and the distributor including forecasting of key lines. The DFD leads a team of 3 and will be involved in developing and hiring as needed for the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Develop and coordinate Annual Operating Plan cycle, yearly budget management, manage division-level and market-level P&L, execute Division Revenue Growth Management plans and implementation in partnership with DVP
  • Ensure accurate forecasting
  • Review and challenge forecasts on a monthly basis and explain variances to budget
  • Manage division roll-up and reporting of R&O insights, planning, forecasting (including managing LEs – Latest Estimates process and challeng results), YTD results, variance drivers, and outlook for the year
  • Assist markets to deliver their Annual Operating Plan
  • Track local market incentives (value portion only)
  • Own final sign-off of ROI analysis
  • Manage overall division budget and budget reconciliation
  • Maintain division-level approval rights for performance reporting, spend tracking, and forecasting
  • Approve performance commentary submitted by Field Finance / Analytics Managers and provide division commentary
  • Manage, coach, and develop divisional and in-market finance teams
  • Act as the Business Lead for PRUSA data governance group, where applicable
  • Ensure compliance with company and legal guidelines

Key Requirements

- Education:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Finance/Accounting. MBA a plus

- Experience/Background:

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant Finance experience, preferably a combination of financial planning and field finance experience
  • Previous experience within the alcohol beverage industry preferred
  • Independent and flexible stakeholder able to execute strategies while identifying opportunities and risks, whilst continuously communicating to management
  • Experience supporting commercial teams achieve their plans and improve their priority KPIs
  • Strong commercial background with significant exposure to the Sales and Marketing functions
  • Exceptional commercial analysis and ability to make clear commercial decisions and finance recommendations
  • Highly analytical, with ability to use the power of facts and knowledge to bring insights that challenge and influence the business
  • Ability to understand market dynamics and be able to clearly articulate strategic priorities for the business from both a finance & commercial perspective
  • Solid project management skillset – Able to build and deliver professional, succinct presentations to tell the story; describe project or analysis proposals, results, and recommended actions
  • Excellent organizational skills - structured approach and capable of managing numerous competing workstreams simultaneously
  • Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels. Strong presentations skills and is adaptive to different audiences
  • Demonstrates strong intellectual curiosity; always seeking new approaches and challenging the organization to new levels of success
  • High level of understanding on third party data such as Nielsen and NABCA
  • Ability to build teams and lead others cross-functionally to deliver on projects and goals
  • Embrace cross-functional ways of working and strive to embed in Pernod Ricard, championing our culture of entrepreneurship and conviviality
  • Strong MS Office skills with Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics
