Company Overview:

The Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.

Role Overview:

The Vice President of Sales and Digital will define and execute business strategies including digital marketing, direct to consumer reach and influence, monetization of DMG product resulting from consumer access (streaming) and ownership (downloads and physical), and drive product awareness throughout various digital platforms.  This executive will lead a dynamic team of marketing, sales and media (both digital and physical) professionals.  The position will lead DMG’s direct to consumer strategy and maintain a high-level engagement and collaboration throughout all areas of DMG to realize and achieve overall business objectives.  The desired candidate has a keen knowledge and sense of consumer trends and consumption, ability to build strong partner and account relationships, and the ability to motivate and lead a highly energized and results oriented team.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage overall account-based initiatives for DMG to achieve increased revenue and marketing objectives
  • Oversee digital marketing activities for artists and brands with a focus on driving engagement, awareness, demand and monetization
  • Oversee social media and audience engagement
  • Develop and lead efforts around expanding UGC and Fan Monetization
  • Drive strategy to grow and monetize User Generated Content (UGC) throughout social media, games, and more
  • Lead team in strategic development of Influencer, Creator, and Ambassador marketing.
  • Oversee strong digital business partner relationships (Amazon, Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Vevo, Meta, etc.) with a focus on emerging accounts and usage trends
  • Oversee physical sales business, creating, executing and evaluating retail promotional, merchandising, positioning and placement opportunities
  • Develop new opportunities, including business models, geographies and products in physical and digital spaces
  • Use, evangelize, and act as leader in efforts to utilize AI effectively, ethically, and responsibly.
  • Create and maximize opportunities for catalog products
  • Grow direct-to-consumer effectiveness and new product opportunities
  • Oversight for CRM strategy for DMG
  • Oversight for pertinent web development, asset creation, and related privacy and legal compliance
  • Forecast, monitor and evaluate fiscal performance of departmental efforts
  • Provide digital unit and revenue forecast guidance
  • Provide physical unit projections and guidance for supply chain
  • Guide digital commerce and marketing strategies
  • Explore new and emerging technologies, platforms and consumer trends
  • Make extensive use of data to increase revenue and make better business decisions 
  • Manage strong relationships with distribution and license partners to extend effectiveness of the DMG team
  • Seek out and maintain partnerships with other segments of The Walt Disney Company to generate opportunities and maximize revenue
  • Guide global partners to maintain local market autonomy within a coordinated worldwide strategy
  • Partner with internal DMG marketing leads to develop and execute advertising and media plans and creative to support key objectives.
  • Lead a team of 10-15 employees in total, building unit cohesion, collaboration and efficiency, and focusing on professional development and growth opportunities for each team member as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years experience in the Sales & Digital space
  • 5+ years experience leading a large multi-tiered team
  • Expert understanding of new technologies, platforms and digital services
  • Keen insight into online consumer behaviors
  • Experience with managing on-line communities
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to create effective strategic programs
  • In-depth knowledge of direct-to-consumer marketing and promotions (including testing, reporting, acquisition, retention, & engagement)
  • Strong project management & ability to multi-task
  • Account management experience
  • Track record in leading people in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to enlist cooperation among external partners, vendors, agencies, etc. in addition to internal stakeholders
  • Music industry experience preferred

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Experience leading large, layered organizations with multiple levels of direct (8+ individuals) and indirect reports preferred
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $194,700.00-$261,100.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
