The Director of Workplace Technology & Services is responsible for shaping and executing the strategy for all workplace and end-user technologies to enhance employee productivity, collaboration, and satisfaction. This role leads teams delivering IT Service Desk, and end-user computing services, ensuring operational excellence, security, and alignment with enterprise goals. The Director will drive modernization, automation, and best practices across end-user systems, collaboration platforms, and workplace services while partnering closely with Cybersecurity, Applications, Cloud, and business stakeholders.
What you will do:
Database Operations
- Oversee administration, performance, and reliability of enterprise databases (SQL, Snowflake, NoSQL, cloud DBaaS).
- Ensure high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies are in place.
- Define standards for database security, schema design, and query optimization.
- Partner with application teams to support development, integration, and scaling requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and remediation for database-related incidents.
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Lead IAM strategy and operations, including Okta, Active Directory, Azure AD, SSO, MFA, PAM, and role-based access control.
- Ensure compliance with access certifications, segregation of duties, and regulatory frameworks (SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
- Partner with HR and Security to streamline joiner/mover/leaver processes.
- Implement IAM automation for provisioning/deprovisioning and periodic access reviews.
Enterprise Tools (Jira & Collaboration Platforms)
- Oversee configuration, customization, and administration of Jira, Confluence, and related Atlassian tools.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to improve workflow automation, dashboards, and reporting.
- Establish governance for enterprise tool usage, permissions, and integration with IAM and other systems.
- Provide strategy for adoption, scalability, and vendor management of collaboration platforms.
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop teams across database operations, IAM, and enterprise tools administration.
- Define roadmaps for modernization (cloud migration, database automation, IAM maturity, Jira scaling).
- Establish KPIs for uptime, SLA adherence, database performance, IAM compliance, and Jira adoption.
- Manage vendor contracts, licensing, and budget for assigned platforms.
- Drive operational excellence and enforce ITIL best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 15+ years in IT infrastructure/operations with 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in database operations (SQL Server/MySQL/Postgres/NoSQL).
- Hands-on leadership experience with IAM platforms (AD, Azure AD, Okta, Ping, etc.).
- Proven experience administering and scaling Jira/Confluence or equivalent tools.
- Strong understanding of ITIL, change management, and operational best practices.
- Certifications: AWS/Azure Database Specialty, CISSP, CISM, Atlassian Certified Administrator, ITIL.
- Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government).
Kapitus Total Rewards Package Includes:
- Competitive Base Salary Range of $157,000- $252,000 Kapitus is providing this as a good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant’s final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant’s geographic location, skills, and experience.
