Our Strategic Reach & Workforce Partnerships team is a trusted talent and economic development partner to states and employers. We advance College Board’s mission by expanding access to AP Career Kickstart courses, which align with high-value, industry recognized credentials. These partnerships strengthen state and regional economies while unlocking new opportunities for students to own their future.  

   

About the Opportunity    

As our Director, Workforce Partnerships, you’ll be the engine behind College Board’s employer engagement efforts. You’ll source via lead generation and managing internal interest, and lead targeted outreach to business leaders, manage and build a pipeline, qualify and build high impact partnerships, and ensure employer voices are central to the development of our career offerings. Your work will enable hundreds of thousands of students to earn industry-recognized credentials while in high school and create a stronger, more inclusive talent pipeline nationwide.

  

You will build/maintain a pipeline of employer partners focused on these responsibilities:  

40% | Drive Employer Growth Strategy in Priority Markets  

  • Build, manage, and grow your own employer pipelineproactively sourcing, qualifying, and prioritizing high-potential leads in target states. Maintain rigorous tracking and forecasting in CRM systems to drive conversion and contribute to teamwide growth objectives 

  • Conduct high volume lead generation - Design a prospecting strategy that combines outbound outreach with inbound interest cultivation. Use labor market insights to identify and qualify employers most aligned to our mission. Build segmented lead lists and execute personalized outreach campaigns to grow and diversify the employer partnership pipeline.  

  • Lead high-impact conversations with employer partners, from discovery through follow-up. Execute structured outreach and follow-through to turn interest into engagement, while identifying opportunities to expand into deeper, longer-term collaborations.  

  • Develop and execute multichannel outreach campaigns (email, LinkedIn, events, webinars) designed to elevate brand awareness, articulate our unique value proposition, and gather direct market insights from HR, talent, and workforce decisionmakers.  

  • Develop high impact Executive Briefings to prepare C-suite and senior-level leaders to meet with employers at key events. Tailor briefing docs to reflect each employer's values and goals, talent strategy and industry needs positioning College Board as a trusted partner in workforce development.  

25% | Deepen Strategic Partnerships and Elevate Employer Engagement  

  • Transform initial employer interest into mission-aligned partnerships that expand student and teacher access to AP Career Kickstart courses  
  • Guide employers through meaningful engagement opportunities, from letters of endorsement and advising to high-visibility collaborations that drive sustained commitment  

  • Create paths for employers to deepen engagement with AP CK by serving on advisory committees, hosting career spotlights for students, sharing access to career exploration materials for high school students and teachers (videos, case studies, work-based learning activities and events)  

  • Collaborate with internal teams to create messaging, content, and briefings that convert leads into well-informed and excited strategic partners.  

  • Manage a Strategic Portfolio of Employer Partners: Own a portfolio of engaged employers, serving as their primary point of contact and trusted advisor. Cultivate strong, mission-aligned relationships by understanding each partner’s unique goals and aligning them with opportunities across AP Career Kickstart. Ensure consistent, high quality engagement that delivers value for the employer and College Boardtracking progress, anticipating needs, and driving toward deeper, long-term collaboration.  

20% | Lead Consultative Strategy to Align Employer Engagement with Career Outcomes  

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to employers, guiding them on how they can support meaningfully advancing AP Career Kickstart and College Board’s broader career goals and ensure employer contributions align with course development, Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) attainment, and high-impact student outcomes  

  • Design differentiated engagement strategies tailored to employer size, sector, talent needs, and long-term talent priorities, leveraging AI for these customized approaches  

  • Influence cross-functional planning to ensure employer engagement enhances the authenticity, equity, and credibility of our career pathways  

  • Bring employer insights to shape our internal work - leverage and regularly share employer feedback to inform the design and evolution of our AP Career Kickstart offering and to guide our state career work. Help position College Board as a leader in connecting education to real-world workforce needs.  

15% | Leverage Insights to Drive Smarter Employer Engagement Strategy  

  • Use data from Salesforce, labor market intelligence, landscape studies, and conversations with key state and business leaders to continuously refine and prioritize employer outreach strategies  

  • Collaborate with research, product, and policy teams to generate compelling insight briefs that inform outreach and enhance partnership credibility  

  • Translate data from our pipeline into actionable strategy recommendations for leadership and peers across the organization  

About You   

You are a proactive, relationship-first sales/partnerships professional who is energized by helping employers connect with the next generation of top talent. You bring a consultative mindset, mission-driven focus, and a readiness to scale high-impact programs in dynamic environments.  

Must-Have Qualifications  

  • 46 years of experience in business development, employer partnerships, or consultative sales  

  • Strong attention to detail and accountability for follow-through, with clear verbal and written communication  

  • Comfort using Salesforce, Asana, Microsoft Suite, and other CRM tools  

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment  

  • Willingness to travel ~12 times per year on behalf of College Board

About Our Process

A Thoughtful Approach to Compensation 

  • The hiring range for this role is $80,000-$130,000. 

  • Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board.  

  • We aim to make our best offer upfrontrooted in fairness, transparency, and market data.  

  • We adjust salaries by location to ensure fairness, no matter where you live.
