The Role

Director, User Growth and Integrated Marketing

About Trax

At Shopkick, our Director of User Growth and Integrated Marketing is the driving force behind user acquisition, engagement, and retention. This role owns the full funnel (from strategy to execution) across all performance marketing and integrated marketing channels. We’re looking for a data-driven, creative leader who can balance analytical rigor with creative experimentation. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to scale what works, test what’s next, and champion the user at every stage. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes initiative, and is passionate about building meaningful, measurable growth in an app-based environment. This role will report to the global Chief Marketing Officer.

*This is a US based remote role*

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization’s leading user advocate, driving a cross-functional task force focused on optimizing the user journey, experience, and overall growth.
  • Own or co-own the definition and reporting of all user-related KPIs, including active users, retention, marketing channel performance, acquisition metrics (CPA and ROI), overall growth, and lifetime value.
  • Oversee all user acquisition channels – spanning paid media (Google, Apple, Meta, etc.), programmatic, SEO/ASO, affiliate, influencer, referral programs, and partner marketing.
  • Lead app store optimization (ASO) strategy and execution in close collaboration with our agency partners and product team.
  • Manage the relationship with our paid media agency – providing strategic direction, ensuring alignment, and holding teams accountable through clear performance goals.
  • Develop creative briefs and source UGC for paid advertising, reviewing and approving all ad creative to ensure it aligns with brand standards and performance goals.
  • Lead strategy for testing new marketing channels, staying current with user acquisition trends and emerging opportunities in the app ecosystem.
  • Oversee all integrated marketing efforts, including seasonal campaigns, cross-channel initiatives, customer service tone of voice, organic social, sponsored content, and content marketing.
  • Maintain an understanding of consumer behavior trends and sentiment, staying up to date on retail and shopping trends – particularly within the CPG space.
  • Drive creative ideation and strategic brainstorming to deliver engaging, strategic marketing campaigns.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving user experience and increasing retention.
  • Occasionally plan and execute in-person events and activations, including on-site presence and travel as needed.
  • Manage a team of three direct reports, including an Integrated Marketing Manager, Social Media Manager, and a Senior Associate focused on affiliate and influencer marketing.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in growth, performance, or digital marketing, ideally within a mobile-first or consumer app environment.
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling paid acquisition campaigns across platforms like Google, Apple, Meta, and programmatic.
  • Deep understanding of key growth KPIs including CPA, ROI, LTV, retention, and active user metrics and comfortable reporting them to leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, derive insights, and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Experience managing creative development for performance channels, including briefing, testing, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with tools like Appsflyer, Mixpanel, or similar attribution and analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically and be comfortable getting in the weeds while keeping a high-level view.
  • Experience managing external partners such as agencies, influencers, or affiliate networks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to stakeholders and advocating for your ideas.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Bonus: Experience in lifecycle marketing, referral programs, or in-person activations.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
