At Botanic Tonics, we know our world is fast, noisy and distracting. It can easily leave us feeling tied up, strung out and not ourselves. Maybe you think the more supercharged you are, the better you’ll be. Maybe escape is the only way for you to truly feel free. We’re not judging — we just have a different point of view. Because we’re not a fuel for keeping pace with the rat-race of every day. We’re not an elixir that transports you through the clouds to a tranquil place. We’re kava products with blends of other naturally active ingredients, designed to bring you down to earth and into the present, so you can make the most of every moment.
Why waste effort trying to quiet the noise when you can tune into it, to hear the one voice that matters? We believe choosing to engage with the here and now is more fulfilling. It makes us feel good, enriches our lives, and brings out our best selves.
Be Present. Be You. When you can truly be there, you feel free.

We are a fast-growing, innovative functional tonic brand, dedicated to offering health-focused beverages that support well-being and vitality. With a presence across independent retailers and national chains, we’re building a bold, energized brand in a competitive category—and we’re seeking a results-driven Director of Trade Marketing to help us drive awareness, trial, and ultimately love at the top of the funnel.

This is a hands-on, impact-oriented role for a creative operator with a passion for building brand heat in the field—where our consumers live, work, shop, and play.

Key Responsibilities:

Own and Scale Field & Experiential Marketing Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of field marketing initiatives with a focus on driving trial, awareness, and first-time purchase.

  • Build an experiential roadmap aligned to key markets, seasonal opportunities, and retail footprint.

  • Integrate sampling and event-based tactics into the broader marketing mix to accelerate consumer acquisition and brand adoption.

Drive Trial Through Sampling

  • Develop and manage a scalable, results-driven sampling program, including street teams, in-store demos, event partnerships, and pop-up activations.

  • Ensure sampling programs are aligned with brand identity and generate measurable impact in awareness and conversion.

  • Identify high-value opportunities to get product into hands, whether through local events, gyms, campuses, festivals, or influencers.

Retail Execution & Brand Presence

  • Ensure consistent and compelling brand presentation across retail environments—from shelf presence to in-store displays and sampling events.

  • Partner with sales and retail partners to execute high-impact in-store activations and build field toolkits that win at the point of sale.

Collaborate Across Teams and Channels

  • Work closely with the sales team to support key accounts and regional growth priorities with hyper-local activations and tailored programs.

  • Collaborate with brand marketing to ensure field campaigns align with national brand messaging and launches.

Build Community Through Local Partnerships

  • Cultivate relationships with community organizations, fitness studios, wellness hubs, and lifestyle venues to build organic brand visibility and loyalty.

  • Source and manage event sponsorships and consumer-facing opportunities that put the product and brand front and center.

Track Performance & Optimize

  • Define and monitor KPIs for sampling, field events, and retail activations to ensure ROI and scalability.

  • Regularly report on results, gather consumer insights, and continuously optimize programs based on data and feedback.

Budget Management

  • Manage and allocate field and trade marketing budgets efficiently to maximize impact and return on spend.

  • Negotiate vendor contracts and sampling/event costs to stay within budget without compromising brand experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 10 years of Trade & Experiential marketing experience in FMCG industry, ideally in the beverage industry.

  • Experience working with a variety of retail channels, including independent retailers, regional accounts, and national chains.

  • Must have prior experience building and leading a impactful field marketing strategy aimed at driving brand awareness and trial

  • Proven ability to develop and execute effective trade marketing strategies.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and external partners.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Travel

  • Anticipated travel: 40-50%

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
