Hedera’s public network is governed by industry-leading organizations, spanning 11 sectors and 14 regions who oversee the development and direction of the decentralized platform.

We are hiring a Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to help scale and institutionalize our accounting foundation as Hashgraph continues to grow and mature as a business.

This role exists to ensure that our financial reporting, technical accounting, and control environment are accurate, compliant, and scalable, enabling the business to operate with confidence and readiness for future complexity (e.g., growth, audits, and potential public market standards).

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, memos, and documentation to support external audits and internal governance
  • Drive process improvements and automation across accounting workflows to increase efficiency and scalability

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (6–12 MONTHS)

  • Technical accounting decisions are proactive, well-documented, and aligned across stakeholders
  • Core accounting processes (close, reporting, controls) are repeatable, scalable, and efficient
  • Cross-functional partners trust finance as a strategic advisor, not just a reporting function

WHAT YOU BRING

Core Capabilities

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment
  • Clear, structured thinking applied to complex accounting and business problems
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment
  • High attention to detail paired with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on scalability and efficiency

Functional Expertise

  • 10+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred)
  • CPA certification
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and technical accounting standards
  • Experience leading or supporting financial reporting and close processes
  • Strong experience with SOX compliance and internal controls
  • Proven ability to write technical accounting memos and policy documentation
  • Experience working in high-growth or evolving environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
  • Exposure to blockchain / web3 / digital asset accounting

*Candidate's in EST will be shown a preference

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
