Role
We are seeking a Director of Accounting Policy & External Reporting to lead the development and oversight of accounting policies across a high-growth, multi-entity, private equity-backed healthtech platform. This role will also oversee accurate, timely, and compliant external financial reporting for senior executives, board members, investors, and—when applicable—regulators.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, extensive experience in U.S. GAAP (including SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606), healthcare revenue cycle considerations, and a track record of supporting public company readiness. You will be a key resource for complex accounting matters, a trusted partner to business leaders, and a driver of transparency, rigor, and scalability.

What You’ll Do
Accounting Policy & Technical Guidance
- Develop, maintain, and communicate robust accounting policies in accordance with U.S. GAAP and industry best practices.
- Serve as the company’s technical accounting expert for complex areas, including ASC 606 (SaaS revenue), ASC 805 (business combinations), ASC 842 (leases), ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), and healthcare-related revenue integrity matters.
- Lead technical research, draft position papers, and advise leadership on the financial implications of business transactions.
- Monitor FASB, SEC, and healthcare regulatory developments; assess impact and lead adoption of new standards.
External Financial Reporting
- Own the preparation, accuracy, and timeliness of quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc external financial reports, ensuring compliance with SEC requirements (if public) or investor reporting standards (if private).
- Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations on disclosures and narrative development.
- Lead the quarterly and annual external audit processes, managing relationships with auditors and technical specialists.
Governance, Controls & Public Company Readiness
- Ensure accounting policies and reporting processes are embedded in the company’s internal control framework, supporting SOX-lite and future SOX 404 compliance.
- Partner with the Corporate Controller to ensure consistency and alignment between operational accounting and technical policy.
- Support IPO readiness and other capital market initiatives, including policy refinement, disclosure enhancement, and system scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Legal, Sales, and Product to review complex contracts for accounting implications.
- Train and mentor finance teams globally on accounting policies and evolving technical guidance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
- Big 4 or Tier 2 public accounting background strongly preferred.
- 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in technical accounting and financial reporting.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, with strong working knowledge of SaaS and/or healthcare revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Experience with business combinations, consolidation, multi-entity/multi-currency environments, and international operations.
- Track record supporting IPO readiness, SEC filings, or private equity investor reporting.
- Proven ability to implement and operationalize new accounting standards across global teams.
- Exceptional technical writing and communication skills; able to simplify complex topics for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, PE-backed environment.
Nice To Haves
- CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional designation.
- Big Four public accounting background with experience in technical accounting advisory.
- Prior leadership of technical accounting policy teams in a public or pre-IPO company.
- Experience drafting or overseeing accounting memos for complex transactions (M&A, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, debt/equity, derivatives).
- Hands-on exposure to ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 718 (Stock Comp), and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).
- Experience with SEC reporting requirements (10-Q, 10-K, S-1) and SOX 404 compliance.
- Familiarity with both U.S. GAAP and IFRS; ability to assess differences and policy impacts.
- Demonstrated success in change management and implementing new accounting standards across large organizations.
- Proven ability to partner with Legal, Investor Relations, and FP&A on policy decisions.
- Prior involvement in IPO readiness or large-scale corporate transactions (spin-offs, carve-outs, or restructurings).
- Experience working with external auditors, regulators, and audit committees.
