About the role

We're looking for a Director of SVOD & Membership Strategy at Crunchyroll, to lead the strategy for our subscription and membership businesses across an 18–60 month horizon. Reporting to the VP of SVOD & Membership Strategy, you’ll define where we’re going, how we get there, and how we win, shaping the roadmap and operating approach that drive how we attract, engage, and retain fans globally.

Strategy & Planning (SVOD + Membership)

  • Lead annual and quarterly planning across SVOD and Membership, aligning goals, budgets, and priorities
  • Build and evolve the long-term roadmap using global and regional insights
  • Create simple frameworks and processes that keep teams aligned across strategy, finance, and regional leads
  • Track market trends, competitors, and product innovation to inform decisions
  • Analyze performance, subscriber behavior, and growth drivers across markets
  • Identify and assess long-term growth opportunities (new models, partnerships, platforms)
  • Support regional strategy with clear data and investment guidance
  • Partner with Finance on forecasts, subscriber growth, and unit economics
  • Lead high-priority strategic projects for senior leadership

Membership Strategy & Experience

  • Define and evolve Crunchyroll’s membership strategy, tiers, and benefits
  • Use audience insights and segmentation to guide decisions
  • Evaluate pricing and value across regions and tiers
  • Build business cases for new benefits, including testing and impact modeling
  • Partner with teams across e-commerce, events, games, manga, and partnerships to create a connected fan experience

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • 12+ years of experience in strategy consulting and/or corporate strategy (media, tech, or DTC), including 5+ years leading high-performing teams
  • Experience across subscription models, digital commerce, advertising, or streaming/SVOD ecosystems
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree with a focus on strategy, operations, or leadership
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience influencing C-level stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate across teams, and operate effectively in complex organizations
  • Comfortable managing shifting priorities in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
About the Team

The SVOD & Membership Strategy Team sits within the COO organization, with the VP of Strategy and Membership reporting directly to the COO. This team is tasked with shaping Crunchyroll’s long-term direction and helping orchestrate how the company unlocks value, fuels global growth, and inspires deeper avidity for Crunchyroll across the anime fan ecosystem.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
