Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators, and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe, factory-built microreactors that leverage existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor next year at the Idaho National Laboratory, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

The Director will lead a team of Supply Chain Managers and Buyers responsible for critical reactor components and services, driving consistent adherence to processes while continuously improving workflows as the organization scales. This role partners closely with Engineering, Finance, Regulatory, Production, Supplier Development, and Planning leadership to ensure material availability, reliable promise dates, and clean supply chain data that supports confident decision-making in a regulated, fast-moving environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on operational excellence, accountability, and turning complex supply chains into predictable execution engines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supply Chain Execution & Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of Supply Chain Managers and Buyers responsible for direct procurement supporting Kaleidos reactor builds.
  • Establish clear expectations, operating cadence, and accountability across sourcing, PO execution, expediting, and supplier follow-up.
  • Drive a culture of urgency, ownership, and data accuracy across the supply chain organization.

Sourcing & Procurement Operations

  • Oversee sourcing strategies and supplier selection in close collaboration with Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs) and Engineering.
  • Ensure commercial terms, lead times, quality clauses, and flow-down requirements are correctly reflected in contracts and purchase orders.
  • Maintain tight control of the full PO lifecycle—from requisition to delivery, closure, and post-delivery follow-up.

Delivery & Performance Management

  • Own supply chain health metrics including promise date integrity, on-time delivery to need date, PO line health, and supplier responsiveness.
  • Ensure meeting notes, supplier commitments, and follow-ups are documented, tracked, and reflected accurately in systems.
  • Proactively identify at-risk parts and suppliers, mobilizing resources to protect manufacturing and program schedules.

Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement

  • Enforce consistent use of established supply chain processes while identifying and implementing improvements to streamline workflows.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Operations and Technology teams to implement dashboards, reporting, and data pipelines that improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Support integration of supply chain into engineering change processes, ensuring material impact is assessed and dispositioned correctly.

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Serve as a primary escalation point for material, supplier, and delivery issues impacting Kaleidos execution.
  • Ensure procurement and supplier activities remain compliant with internal controls and external regulatory requirements.

DELIVERABLES

  • Consistently high on-time delivery performance aligned to manufacturing and program needs.
  • Clean, reliable supply chain data (promise dates, lead times, supplier status) that executives and operations teams can trust.
  • Well-run procurement operations with disciplined PO execution and supplier follow-through.
  • Measurable improvements in supplier performance, responsiveness, and issue resolution.
  • Scalable procurement and execution processes that support future Kaleidos build rates and configurations.
  • A high-performing, accountable supply chain team operating with clarity and confidence.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or manufacturing operations, including leadership of teams.
  • Strong operational understanding of sourcing, contracting, PO execution, expediting, and supplier performance management.
  • Proven ability to run complex procurement operations with tight schedules and high accountability.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program teams.
  • High comfort level using ERP/MRP systems, dashboards, and performance metrics to manage execution.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers as needed (up to ~30%).

This is an exempt salaried role.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
