We are building the energy and technology future—today.

Come join us in accelerating the energy transition to cleaner, more sustainable sources of power!

Basic Function:

We are seeking a Director of Supply Chain & Procurement to architect, lead, and continuously evolve an enterprise-grade supply chain for large-scale data center development. This role is not transactional, it is strategic, market-facing, and highly influential.

You will own procurement strategy across power, mechanical, electrical, and digital infrastructure, managing vendor relationships where capacity, lead time, and geopolitical risk matter as much as price. This leader will shape how we secure constrained equipment, partner with manufacturers, and protect schedules in volatile global markets.

This role is ideal for someone who has operated inside (or alongside) hyperscalers, large developers, EPCs, mission-critical integrators or related positions—and wants broader authority to build something enduring.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Supply Chain Leadership
    • Design and execute a long-range supply chain strategy aligned with multi-year data center development pipelines
    • Anticipate and mitigate risks related to capacity constraints, long-lead equipment, tariffs, logistics disruptions, and supplier concentration
    • Establish early-procurement and capacity-reservation models for critical systems
  • Procurement & Commercial Execution
    • Lead procurement of major data center systems, including:
      • Medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution, Switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers, Mechanical Cooling Equipment solutions (air and liquid), Racks, containment, structured cabling, controls
      • Other elements that provide SB Energy with the best possible project and operational outcome
    • Structure and negotiate:
      • Master supply agreements
      • Strategic sourcing partnerships
      • Capacity reservation and volume-commitment deals
    • Drive total cost of ownership thinking—balancing cost, risk, schedule, quality, and scalability
  • Vendor & Manufacturer Relationships
    • Serve as senior executive interface with OEMs, manufacturers, and key suppliers
    • Build preferred-vendor ecosystems with performance scorecards and escalation frameworks
    • Collaborate with engineering to influence product roadmaps and standardization
  • Team & Process Development
    • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain and procurement team
    • Establish scalable systems, policies, and controls suitable for rapid growth
    • Implement data-driven reporting for spend visibility, risk exposure, and supplier performance

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 12+ years in supply chain, procurement, or sourcing leadership
  • Deep experience in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, power generation, or advanced industrial construction
  • Proven track record managing long-lead, high-risk equipment in constrained markets
  • Experience working with or for:
    • Hyperscalers
    • Large data center developers
    • EPCs / design-build firms
    • OEMs serving mission-critical markets
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers
  • Sophisticated contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to balance technical, financial, and operational priorities
  • Strategic, decisive, and commercially astute
  • Comfortable operating at executive and board levels
  • Respected by engineers, builders, and manufacturers alike
  • Calm under pressure; thrive in ambiguity and fast-moving environments
  • Real authority over strategy, not just purchasing
  • Direct impact on project schedules, capital efficiency, and scalability
  • Exposure to executive leadership and long-term growth initiatives
  • Opportunity to shape a best-in-class supply chain platform during a pivotal growth phase
  • Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives

Location:  San Francisco/Bay Area, CA; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Texas preferred. Hybrid options. The position requires up to 30% domestic travel.

Base Pay - 190,000 - 220,000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our team. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus, a long-term incentive plan aligned with our ownership mindset, and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package. Final details will be discussed during the later stages of the hiring process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
