Who we are looking for

A Director of Software Engineering is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the software development process, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects, and aligning efforts with business objectives. This role involves overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, providing strategic vision, technical leadership, and managing project timelines and resources. Additionally, the Director mentors team leaders, drives performance, fosters an environment that encourages personal and professional growth. They are also involved in strategic planning, resource management, process improvement, and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.

The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for a variety of technical functions. The position requires a highly motivated, “roll up your sleeves” software leader who can get things done in a fast-paced environment spanning the country.

Please note: While the primary location for this role is Los Angeles, CA, we will also consider applications from the Boston, MA and Seattle, WA area.

  • Coach and develop the leaders on the team to grow their skills, constantly strive to raise the bar on performance
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, develop, test and launch software that brings outsized customer impact

What you bring to the Team

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience
  • 8+ years of experience managing engineering managers
  • Proficiency with a wide variety of programming languages, technical stacks and cloud technologies
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams, and working with distributed teams
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
