Job Description

We are seeking a Director, Social Media to build and lead our global social strategy across owned social channels. This role will be part of the Brand Marketing team and partner closely with Creative, Performance Marketing, and Merchandising teams to architect best-in-class social executions that are on brand, on trend, and culturally relevant. You’ll bring strategic vision, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of both storytelling and performance to ensure Vuori’s social ecosystem drives brand love, engagement, and measurable business growth.

What you’ll get to do:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and own Vuori’s global social media strategy across organic and paid channels.
  • Establish the strategic framework for how social ladders up to overall brand, campaign, and business objectives.
  • Partner with Brand, Creative, and Performance teams to build an integrated organic-and-paid ecosystem that maximizes reach, engagement, and efficiency.
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, algorithms, and cultural moments to ensure Vuori’s presence remains relevant and impactful.
  • Develop clear KPIs (reach, engagement, growth, ROI) and align analytics and insights to optimize content and spend.

Content & Creative Excellence

  • Partner with the Creative team to develop social-first, culturally compelling content across video, short-form, static, and emerging formats.
  • Ensure all social creative aligns with Vuori’s aesthetic, tone, and purpose, while embracing platform-native storytelling.
  • Guide cross-functional campaign planning — from concept through posting — ensuring timing, tone, and creative integration across channels.
  • Lead social boosting and post amplification strategies in partnership with the Paid Media team to extend reach and engagement of organic content.
  • Champion experimentation and innovation across platforms and formats, backed by data-driven testing and iteration.

Paid Social & Performance Partnership

  • Partner closely with the Performance Marketing team to connect brand storytelling with performance goals.
  • Develop frameworks for boosted content, paid social amplification, and always-on brand campaigns that enhance reach and conversion.
  • Inform targeting strategies, creative testing, and budget allocation to ensure paid efforts are efficient and brand-aligned.
  • Translate insights from paid performance back into creative and content development to improve future output.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing social team of strategists, producers, and platform experts.
  • Establish scalable processes for planning, publishing, and reporting across regions and platforms.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Creative, Brand, Performance Marketing, PR, and Retail teams.
  • Manage relationships with social platforms, agencies, and tools/vendors to ensure Vuori is at the forefront of innovation.
  • Build internal education and alignment around social best practices and evolving platform capabilities.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Partner with Analytics to track performance across paid and organic efforts.
  • Deliver actionable insights and executive-level reporting that connects social activity to brand and business outcomes.
  • Continuously refine strategy based on learnings and emerging platform opportunities.

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, and/or content strategy — including 6+ years leading teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven success in developing and scaling global social strategies for consumer or lifestyle brands.
  • Deep understanding of major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Meta, LinkedIn, X) and their evolving ad and creator ecosystems.
  • Strong creative judgment — able to evaluate content for brand fit, cultural resonance, and performance potential.
  • Fluency in social metrics, analytics, and attribution. Comfortable blending qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Experienced collaborating with paid media teams and leveraging paid strategies (boosting, audience targeting, retargeting, A/B testing) to amplify brand storytelling.
  • Excellent communicator and cross-functional partner, with the ability to influence and inspire creative and analytical teams alike.
  • Highly organized and resourceful, thriving in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.
  • Passionate about Vuori’s mission and aesthetic — living an active, mindful lifestyle and staying connected to culture and creativity.
  • Experience managing multi-market or global social operations.
  • Proven success integrating organic and paid social strategies.
  • Experience managing agency partners and social budgets.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for shoots, events, and brand activations.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
