Role Overview
Mastercard helps financial institutions, fintechs and business partners bring innovative payment solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) by working closely with issuers, fintechs, partners and merchants to drive market adoption and ecosystem growth across a portfolio of commercial payment solutions that address the needs of the SMEs, including their growing needs in an agentic-AI enabled future.
The Director, NAM SME Product Commercialization, SME will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing go-to-market strategies to deploy strategic card and beyond card capabilities for SMEs in the U.S. This leader will support the end-to-end strategy for agentic AI systems, starting with the Virtual C-suite, a new agentic experience designed to help small businesses operate with executive-level insight and decisioning.
This role sits at the intersection of AI and the NAM SME product strategy, business enablement, and technical sales commercialization. The ideal candidate combines deep technical understanding with strong product thinking and the ability to partner with senior stakeholders across regions and business units.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Product Management• Commercialize AI and beyond card solutions with clients, partners, and ecosystem stakeholders, aligned to the nuances of the US market.• Ensure releases are adoption ready, balancing usability, scalability, performance, and trust requirements.• Track product outcomes (adoption, performance, business impact), identify gaps, and continuously contribute to the development roadmap.
Pre Sales Commercialization• Develop sales materials and product enablement through SME sales leads and account teams.• Strengthen and help tailor the Virtual C-Suite and beyond card product value narrative to prospective and/or existing customers.• Identify and execute pipeline, support go-to-market strategies, and drive market penetration in partnership with sales teams.• Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-direction, quickly learning new concepts and navigating complex challenges within a highly matrixed, fast-paced organization.
Post-Sale Commercialization• Oversee customer pilots and go-to-market implementation for Virtual C-Suite and key beyond card products.• Lead technical implementation support and business enablement in concert with cross-functional partners.
Stakeholder Alignment • In close partnership with SME team peers, global SME product, and AI teams, provide continuous SME feedback and improvement to products and services built.• Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, Account Teams, Services, Open Banking, and Legal teams.• Build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with executive-level stakeholders, influencing decisions and driving alignment across teams and business functions.
Qualifications Required• Deep understanding of the payments industry serving the small and medium business sector.• Experience in business development, sales, and product management of complex solutions.• Strong understanding of LLM architectures, agentic systems, reasoning frameworks, and orchestration tools.• Proven ability to design, deploy, and scale product adoption and sales revenue enablement.• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication.• Can-do attitude paired with intellectual curiosity.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
