What We Do:

Huntress is a fully remote, global team of passionate experts and ethical badasses on a mission to break down the barriers to cybersecurity. Whether creating purpose-built security solutions, hunting down hackers, or impacting our community, our people go above and beyond to change the security game and make a real difference.

Founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress protects all businesses—not just the 1%—with enterprise-grade, fully owned, and managed cybersecurity products at the price of an affordable SaaS application. The Huntress difference is our One Team advantage: our technology is designed with our industry-defining Security Operations Center (SOC) in mind and is never separated from our service.

We protect 3M+ endpoints and 1M+ identities worldwide, elevating under-resourced IT teams with protection that works as hard as they do. As long as hackers keep hacking, Huntress keeps hunting.

What You’ll Do:

As organic search evolves toward answer engines, AI-driven discovery, and entity-based visibility, the scope and complexity of SEO at Huntress has expanded. We are hiring a Director of SEO & AEO to own performance, direction, and team leadership for this increasingly critical and volatile channel.

This role is responsible for transforming organic visibility into measurable business impact, while establishing the operating structure, advocacy, and talent development necessary to scale SEO and AEO sustainably. The Director will lead a growing team across technical SEO, content SEO, and AI / LLM optimization, and will serve as the primary owner of SEO performance narratives across the business.

This leader will balance near-term results with long-term authority building, applying both offensive growth strategies and defensive mitigation as the SERP, AI Overviews, and generative search experiences continue to change.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Performance & Accountability

  • Own day-to-day and long-range SEO / AEO performance management, including forecasting, analysis, and opportunity identification, leveraging multiple platforms, including SEOClarity, Google Search Console, and internal reporting tools
  • Proactively surface risks and emerging opportunities, rather than reactive analysis
  • Lead deep-dive investigations into performance shifts, as needed
  • Connect SEO performance to brand awareness, paid search outcomes, and downstream pipeline influence across channels
  • Translate performance data into clear executive-ready insights, recommendations, and trade-off discussions that protect the channel from misinterpretation

SEO/AEO Channel Leadership

  • Own the SEO and AEO strategy across modern search and AI-powered discovery experiences
  • Define how content clustering, entity optimization, backlinking, and technical foundations work together to drive brand authority, visibility, and conversions
  • Partner closely with Content, Brand, Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Web, and Data teams to ensure organic visibility aligns with broader business goals
  • Serve as an internal educator and advocate on areas such as evolving SERP, the AI search landscape, organic visibility influence on pipeline, and channel value - helping to reframe expectations on channel performance, as needed

Leadership & Management

  • Directly manage the existing SEO team members, which includes career development and coachingwhile ensuring the team is scaling sustainably
  • Establish a scalable operating model for the SEO team, including:
    • Sprint cycles and planning cadence
    • Workflow intake and prioritization
    • Clear ownership across technical SEO, content SEO, AEO experiments, backlinking, and site hygiene
    • Monday.com (or equivalent) organization and visibility
  • Act as a strong voice, advocating for things such as data and analytics support, tooling, platforms, and technical investments

What You Bring To The Team:

  •  10+ years of experience in SEO, with demonstrated progression into senior or director-level leadership roles
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary SEO teams, including technical SEO, content SEO, and strategy.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Modern SEO strategy and execution
    • AEO, GEO, entity optimization, and AI-driven search trends
    • Technical SEO foundations and site architecture
  • Strong familiarity with tools, including (but not limited to):
    • SEOClarity, Google Search Console, GA4
    • Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog
    • AI / LLM visibility platforms such as Profound (or equivalents)
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex performance data into clear business narratives and executive communication
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, or complex technical products strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in influencing cross-functional partners without direct authority
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and organizational design

What We Offer:

  • 100% remote work environment - since our founding in 2015
  • Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans
  • 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution
  • Life and Disability insurance plans
  • Stock options for all full-time employees
  • One-time $500 reimbursement for building/upgrading home office
  • Annual allowance for education and professional development assistance
  • $75 USD/month digital reimbursement
  • Access to the BetterUp platform for coaching, personal, and professional growth

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
