SALARY: $160,000 - $190,000 Base Salary, plus Commission and Equity
The Role:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead our sales efforts targeting alternative investment clients at Canoe Intelligence. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and fostering strong relationships with clients in the alternative investment industry.
What You'll Do:
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy and go-to-market plan targeting alternative investment clients, aligned with company goals, revenue targets, and market trends.
  • Client Acquisition: Lead the team in identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing new client acquisition efforts within a designated territory. Assist the team in engaging with key decision-makers and driving sales pipeline growth through proactive prospecting and lead generation.
  • Sales Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive performance, meet sales targets, and achieve business objectives. Conduct performance reviews and take appropriate action for both high and low performers. Provide advanced negotiation and legal expertise to help close complex deals.
  • Sales Process Optimization: Streamline and optimize sales processes, from lead qualification to contract negotiation and closing, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer success, to align sales strategies with product roadmap, customer feedback, and market trends.
  • Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Develop sales forecasts, track sales performance metrics, analyze sales data, and provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on sales performance, trends, and opportunities.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, client needs, and regulatory changes impacting the alternative investment industry, and leverage market intelligence to inform sales strategies and initiatives.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in sales leadership roles, with a track record of hitting and exceeding sales targets, managing and developing high-performing sales teams, and driving results in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
  • Significant experience in selling software solutions or technology services to financial services clients (e.g., hedge funds, private equity firms, asset managers, banks, pensions).
  • Deep understanding of the alternative investment industry, including investment strategies, data management challenges, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize sales strategies and performance.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies, adapt to changing market conditions, and drive revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce
