Oura is seeking a Sales Engineering Director to scale our commercial business across healthcare, wellness, and human performance accounts. You will be a foundational leader - operating as a high-impact strategic individual contributor with the long-term potential to build a team. Your mission is to drive revenue by personally leading technical discussions for complex accounts while architecting the resources and documentation that empower our broader sales team to navigate technical conversations independently.
You will act as the connective thread between our Engineering, Product, and Merchant Experience teams - ensuring commercial solutions are technically viable, scalable, and aligned with Oura’s mission to deliver a seamless customer and member experience.
What you will do:
- Master the Oura ecosystem, maintaining deep expertise in wearable hardware, mobile apps, data analytics platforms, APIs, and fulfillment pathways to drive technical wins.
- Lead technical discussions for strategic commercial customers, serving as the primary expert on Oura’s hardware, software, and API capabilities.
- Develop a "Technical Sales Playbook" including self-serve integration guides, FAQs, and documentation to streamline transactional sales.
- Ensure technical continuity post-contract by partnering with Customer Success and Implementation teams to drive seamless hand-offs and a consistent partner experience.
- Bridge cross-functional gaps by partnering with Engineering and Product to resolve complex technical requirements for enterprise deals.
- Translate field insights into product requirements, providing a critical feedback loop to internal teams based on customer technical needs.
- Scale the Commercial Sales Engineering function, establishing best practices and identifying future headcount needs as the business grows.
We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
- 10+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, customer/partner engineering, or other relevant technical sales experience..
- Strategic IC mindset: You are energized by "doing the work” - leading discovery, running demos, and solving technical hurdles personally - while possessing the experience to lead a team in the future.
- Technical content development: A proven record of authoring technical requirement docs, integration guides, and customer-facing enablement materials.
- High-stakes communication: Exceptional verbal skills with a track record of translating complex technical architecture for both C-suite executives and developers.
- Deep technical fluency in hardware (wearables), software (mobile/web), APIs, and logistics/fulfillment infrastructure.
- Health-Tech Integration: Experience connecting hardware/API solutions to third-party ecosystems, including middleware providers, EMRs, or corporate wellness platforms.
- Privacy & compliance fluency: Experience navigating health-tech standards (HIPAA, GDPR) and the technical sensitivities of handling biometric data.
- Cross-functional agility: Proven success aligning Engineering, Product, and Operations to solve customer problems.
- Ideal candidate: Experience in wearables, biometrics, or related healthcare or human performance industry.
