As the Director, Sales Engineering at ActivTrak, you’ll be a proven sales engineering leader with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams. You’re passionate about helping enterprise prospects and customers understand the value of technology through compelling demonstrations, solution design, and consultative selling. 

You will lead our team and shape the future of our pre-sales strategy, partner closely with the Chief Sales Officer and other key leaders to drive growth in the mid-market and enterprise segments. This is a strategic, hands-on role where you will develop the vision for the function, while also rolling up your sleeves to engage directly with customers. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Sales Engineering team to deliver world-class technical expertise and customer engagement throughout the sales cycle.
  • Develop a clear vision and framework for pre-sales, including discovery, demos, proof of concepts (POCs), and solution design.
  • Partner with sales leadership to drive deal strategy, improve win rates, and accelerate sales cycles.
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing to refine messaging, positioning, and technical content aligned to market needs.
  • Build scalable processes and tools for demos, competitive analysis, and technical validation to support enterprise sales motion.
  • Serve as an executive-level technical advisor in customer meetings, providing credibility and insight on workforce analytics, security, and integration use cases.
  • Establish metrics and reporting to measure the impact and effectiveness of the Sales Engineering team.
  • Ensure alignment with post-sales functions to deliver a seamless customer journey from pre-sale to onboarding.
  • Stay ahead of market and technology trends to equip the team with the knowledge and expertise needed to position ActivTrak competitively.

Requirements

  • 7 years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or pre-sales roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong track record of leading technical pre-sales teams in a high-growth SaaS company.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS architectures, integrations, APIs, and security considerations relevant to enterprise customers.
  • Proven success designing and executing POCs and enterprise-scale solution validations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
  • Experience partnering with enterprise sales teams to shape deal strategy and close complex opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize across multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to lead geographically distributed teams and engage effectively in a remote-first environment.
