About Optimism

Optimism is a digital publisher focused on wellbeing. We conceive, launch, and operate digital brands across health, wellness, longevity, and lifestyle. With an email-first approach, our goal is to transform the inbox into a healthier alternative to social media feeds — a place where readers can curate content that informs, inspires, and supports better daily habits.

About All Healthy

All Healthy is a daily health and wellness newsletter sent to over 1.3 million readers each morning. In just five minutes a day, we deliver practical, evidence-informed insights across nutrition, fitness, longevity, mental wellbeing, and everyday healthy living.

Our audience turns to All Healthy for clarity and simplicity in a crowded wellness landscape. We partner with thoughtful, high-quality brands that align with our mission and provide real value to our readers. Sponsorships are deeply integrated into the editorial experience, prioritizing trust, performance, and long-term brand relationships over one-off placements.

About the Director of Sales

As the Director of Sales, you will own and drive revenue growth for All Healthy, with a strong focus on direct brand partnerships. You will manage the full sales lifecycle, from outbound prospecting and relationship development to closing, execution, and post-campaign reporting.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and is excited to help shape the future of our sponsorship offerings. While you will have limited account management support for asset collection and approvals, you will be responsible for overall client success and revenue outcomes.

Accountabilities
  • Manage and grow direct sales and partnerships, including prospecting, pipeline development, optimization, upselling, and renewals
  • Secure new partnerships primarily through flat-fee newsletter sponsorships
  • Cross-sell web and social offerings when partners are looking to expand beyond the inbox
  • Develop a deep understanding of partner objectives and align them with All Healthy’s audience and editorial approach
  • Collaborate closely with the Editorial team to ensure campaigns are on-brand and resonate with our readers
  • Manage the sponsorship calendar to optimize campaign volume and revenue
  • Help evolve our internal direct sales channel by ideating and launching new ad products, formats, and capabilities
  • Stay current on industry trends and performance benchmarks, using insights to refine strategy and improve sponsor results

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years experience selling newsletter sponsorships or similar digital media products
  • Minimum 2 years experience using CRM tools for prospecting and pipeline management (Clay, Apollo, and/or Instantly, ideally)
  • An existing network of brands or agencies you can activate for All Healthy and related brands
  • Proven ability to build long-term, repeat partnerships
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with editorial and operations teams
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable operating with autonomy
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage tight deadlines
  • Comfortable learning quickly and adapting in a fast-paced environment

Benefits

This position is remote, typically Monday through Friday. Pacific Standard Time preferred for maximum team synchronous working time.

Total anticipated earnings: $175,000-$225,000. Base salary: $100,000-$130,000 plus commission and bonus plan.

Optimism offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer match, and company-paid short-term disability.

Optimism an Equal Opportunity Employer, and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online by submitting their resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications and experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
