Atlassian is seeking a Revenue Accounting Director to oversee our Enterprise Revenue Team. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role, where you will get to partner with leaders across Sales, Legal, Finance to support Atlassian's growth objectives. You will provide technical accounting expertise on ASC 606 to business stakeholders on a variety of areas including contract templates, commercial constructs, new product introductions and strategic revenue initiatives. You will also be responsible for crafting roadmaps and solutions, in conjunction with Sales, Engineering, and Product management orgs, to scale Atlassian's enterprise order-to-cash process. You will lead and inspire a high-performing revenue assurance function to consult on accounting implications, accurately record our highest-value commercial transactions and support the business in making informed customer decisions.

You are solution-oriented, have strong business acumen, and can simplify complex concepts in your communication (both oral and written). This role reports to our Head of Revenue Accounting who is invested in the continued development of the team and your career.
In this role, you'll get to:
  • Lead and mentor the revenue assurance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Enterprise Deal Operations, FP&A, Product, and Strategy teams to deliver go-to-market strategies, customer contracting, and address related accounting impacts.
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities related to enterprise revenue to ensure the integrity and accuracy of revenue-related financial data and reporting.
  • Leverage your technical expertise to proactively provide desirable revenue accounting results and revenue recognition policy guidance on our most complex revenue transactions to business partners.
  • Bring your experience with large scale enterprise software revenue models, identify and lead the implementation of process improvements to scale up Atlassian's Enterprise revenue accounting operations. Leverage technology to automate and streamline revenue accounting processes.
  • Prepare and present Enterprise revenue data and analyses to executive leadership, including revenue forecasts and variance analyses.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to revenue recognition and reporting.
  • Support external audits and provide audit-ready and SOX compliant documentation.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls over revenue processes.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
  • 10+ years of revenue experience with a combination of public accounting and industry experiences, particular with Enterprise/SaaS revenue teams at scale
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and primarily revenue recognition standards (ASC 606)
  • Excellent research abilities, strong technical writing skills, and experience/ aptitude in various challenging revenue recognition topics
  • Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about issues, leading to recommendations and action plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels at the company
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. SQL knowledge is a plus
  • Experience working with large customer CRM, ERP, and revenue systems (e.g. SFDC, Oracle, RevPro)
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting. CPA or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Experience with a Big-4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $188,700 - $251,600
Zone B: $169,900 - $226,500
Zone C: $156,600 - $208,900
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
