We are looking for a full-time Director of Research who is passionate about understanding users and uncovering their deepest needs, and always curious about how the user and the market evolve in response to new technologies and designs.
Job Description.
Huge is looking for a Director of Research to join our team! In this role, you will lead and shape our research and customer insight capabilities on a global scale: designing and selling research programs, expanding our global research team ito meet the needs of our growing client base, overseeing research projects all over the world on many platforms – including iPads, phones, computers, TVs, and other digital products.
The ideal Director of Research is obsessed with understanding user behavior and creating actionable insights to meet users’ unmet needs. The right person will jump in and conduct hands-on research for our most critical and strategic projects while mentoring and teaching other team members on a variety of other projects.
What you’ll be doing.
- Lead, shape, and grow user research and customer insight capabilities across Huge globally.
- Oversee and ensure the quality of all Research insights and deliverables.
- Manage and mentor the Research team.
- Collaborate with Designers and Strategists to set research goals and ensure quality research outputs.
- Partner with Client Services and Program Management to quote, scope and plan research activities for new and existing engagements.
- Evangelize the value of user research internally and externally.
- Partner with senior clients and client-side research teams.
- Develop and share archives of research methodologies and observations.
- Define, lead, and publish internal research projects.
What we’d like to see.
- A significant amount of hands-on experience with user research and customer insights centered around digital; agency experience a plus
- Passion for research and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Smart, strategic thinker with a proven ability to multitask and prioritize
- Experience with various research methodologies and tools and a keen understanding of when to use which
- Ability to adjust research tasks based on timing (comfortable with guerilla testing and quick turnarounds)
- Ability to create actionable findings that lead to smart strategies and best-in-class designs
- Familiarity with Morae and/or other usability testing software
- Fluency with usability heuristics and relevant HCI literature
- Experience managing, growing, and mentoring other researchers
- Strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills
- Expert moderation skills
- UX design experience is a bonus
- Proactive, hands-on person who loves a challenge
