We're looking for a Director of Product Marketing to elevate our platform's positioning and define how Skimmer is perceived and experienced in the market. This role goes far beyond feature launches—it's about crafting our story, shaping market perception, and driving our go-to-market strategy with clarity and conviction.

You're a dynamic, strategic thinker and builder who thrives at the intersection of product, sales, and marketing. You’re passionate about deeply understanding customer needs and competitive dynamics and translating that insight into clear positioning, actionable strategy, and compelling go-to-market plans. You're comfortable rolling up your sleeves, leading cross-functional initiatives, and knowing a product and its market inside and out. You love uncovering market opportunities and bringing clarity to complexity while educating your team and the team at large about messaging, positioning, and market opportunities.

What you'll do:

1. Market and Competitive Intelligence

  • Own deep market research and competitive analysis — with a focus on the pool service industry, and a lens on the full pool and spa ecosystem.

  • Develop and maintain actionable market segmentation, buyer personas, and customer journey insights rooted in value creation.

  • Be the internal voice of the customer — connecting Skimmer’s strategy to emerging industry trends and business dynamics.

2. Drive Go-To-Market (GTM) Strategy

  • Lead positioning, messaging, pricing, and packaging strategies for Skimmer’s platform and new solutions that are added

  • Partner with marketing, sales, customer success, and product teams to align GTM execution and launch playbooks.

  • Ensure our narrative is consistent, compelling, and clearly articulates Skimmer’s differentiated value across channels.

3. New Product Launches and Commercialization

  • Own end-to-end GTM for new product introductions, from pre-launch planning to post-launch optimization.

  • Collaborate closely with product management to deeply understand the product and translate it into scalable, customer-ready messaging and materials.

  • Develop collateral, sales enablement tools, internal training, and launch communications that deliver real business results.

4. Product Expansion and TAM Growth

  • Work with executive leadership to evaluate market expansion opportunities and guide strategic decisions on new product suites or verticals.

  • Identify untapped segments, jobs-to-be-done, and whitespace opportunities based on customer insights and market signals.

  • Bring clarity and data-driven thinking to Skimmer’s expansion strategy.

Your Experience:

  • Deep and progressive experience in product marketing within SaaS

  • A proven track record of leading positioning, pricing, packaging and overall GTM strategy

  • Ability to lead cross-functional product launches across all functions of the business

  • Strong customer empathy with a history of engaging with users and industry influencers

  • Excellent communication skills and storytelling abilities — you can "paint a picture" that resonates across executives, frontline teams, and customers.

  • Experience managing and mentoring teams; you know how to lead with clarity and inspire with vision.

Nice to haves

  • Industry expertise in the pool and spa space

  • Familiarity with both self-serve and sales-led GTM models

  • Payments and embedded solutions experience

  • Previous experience in working directly with C-suite and board of directors

Benefits
  • Competitive base pay + bonus potential

  • Generous medical, dental, and vision plans (we pay 100% of your premium and 50% of your dependents’)

  • Fantastic culture with a very strong eNPS- we work hard, celebrate wins, and learn as we go to always be improving to benefit our customers.

  • Immediate access to 401(k) with company match

  • Flexible PTO (MINIMUM of 10 days required every year)

  • 12 weeks paid parental leave for birthing parent, 6 weeks paid leave for supporting partner

  • Remote work friendly

  • Comprehensive learning and development budget

  • A manager dedicated to your development

At Skimmer we are deeply committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace (it’s in our values). We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to identify and onboard people from all walks of life. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, family status, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, neurodiversity, disability, age, or veteran status, or any other non-merit based or legally protected grounds.

We also acknowledge that there is no “perfect” candidate - if you fulfill the majority  of these requirements, believe this is a role you would be excited about on a daily basis, and resonate with our culture, we encourage you to apply.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
