As a Director of Customer, Product Management at The RealReal, you are a passionate product leader. You get your energy from improving customer experience, and reducing friction for our consignors and buyers. You establish a vision and lead the execution of our customer facing experiences from site, app, and marketing. You have deep knowledge of our business, our product strategy, and the customer retail technology industry. You are customer obsessed, leveraging qualitative and quantitative methods to identify the customers needs and wants and have the ability to translate that into coherent technology strategy which enables TheRealReal strategic vision. You are able to build a roadmap to achieve your strategy and effectively communicate from individual engineers to executives to gain alignment on the path forward.

What You Get To Do Every Day
  • Define strategies for product domain, which bring together a holistic understanding of the company goals, market trends, competitive landscape, and achieve an outcome based on data and research.

  • Develop and champion a product vision, product strategy, and product roadmap in support of corporate goals and objectives

  • Oversee a complex domain with multiple products & lead a team to bring the roadmap to fruition

  • Use customer & market research, consignor feedback, and competitive analysis to identify new product opportunities and enhancements

  • Define, track and improve key product metrics

  • Present and clearly articulate product strategy to the development team and company leadership

  • Collaborate with the business, user experience and development teams during discovery to assess value, usability and feasibility of product features

  • Specify, prioritize and communicate high level and detailed product specifications using user stories, business rules, flows, use cases and user flows

  • Collaborate closely with the development team during the development cycle, attending daily standups and leading backlog grooming and sprint planning sessions

  • Identify necessary and/or desirable third-party features; evaluating and selecting vendors, negotiating agreements and contracts, and managing partnership integration

  • Work closely with marketing & merchandising to launch products and ensure their adoption

  • Coordinate post-launch activities to validate the product works as designed and that operational processes dependent on the feature successfully complete acceptance testing

What You Bring To The Role

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management, including eCommerce, fashion, and/or martech.

  • 5 + years of people management experience

  • Proven track-record: past projects were consistently successful (i.e. met the consumer’s need, met business objectives, delivered on-time with no/few surprises)

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design and usability

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize own work

Preferred Requirements:

  • Marketplace experience: experience in an online retail environment (direct to consumer)

  • Strong preference for candidates currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area

The expected salary range for this role is $240,000.00-$270,000.00. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
