Role and Responsibilities

Director of Product, Ad Experience and Monetization – Samsung TV Plus

About the Team
Samsung Ads, a division of Samsung Electronics America, powers innovative and data-driven advertising experiences spanning hundreds of millions of smart devices across TV, mobile, desktop, and beyond. Our deep understanding of TV viewership and unmatched position at the intersection of hardware, software and advertising delivers quantifiable results for brands on a massive scale. With the largest single source of TV data in the market, reaching 3 in 4 U.S. households, Samsung Ads unlocks opportunities to engage consumers during connected moments that matter.

Role Overview

Samsung TV Plus is one of the largest FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) platforms globally, reaching millions of viewers across Samsung devices. The Sr. Director of Product, Ad Experience and Monetization for Samsung TV Plus will own the end-to-end product strategy and execution for advertising in Samsung TV Plus including inventory, formats, and demand integrations.

This role is accountable for revenue growth, advertiser value, and viewer experience, and will serve as the single product owner for how ads are designed, delivered, optimized, and scaled within Samsung TV Plus. A critical dimension of this role is tight partnership with the Samsung TV Plus Content team to ensure monetization strategy is deeply aligned with the content roadmap, programming mix, and viewership growth strategy.

This is a senior product leadership role with direct ownership of monetization outcomes, not just feature delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy:

  • Own the ads monetization strategy for Samsung TV Plus, including ad load, yield optimization, pricing levers, and revenue performance.

  • Define a clear multi-year monetization roadmap aligned with FAST market dynamics, advertiser demand, and Samsung Ads revenue goals.

  • Balance short-term revenue optimization with long-term platform health, viewer engagement, and content sustainability.

Content-Aligned Monetization Strategy

  • Partner closely with the Samsung TV Plus Content leadership team to align ad monetization strategy with:

    • Content acquisition and programming roadmap

    • Channel mix (owned & operated, licensed, genre-based, event-driven)

    • Viewership growth and audience development strategies

  • Co-develop monetization approaches tailored to different content types and viewing behaviors (e.g., long-form lean-back viewing, news, sports, events, niche interest channels).

  • Inform content investment and programming decisions by providing monetization insights, yield data, and advertiser demand signals.

  • Ensure ad experiences complement — rather than disrupt — the intended content experience and viewer engagement goals.

Ad Products & Formats

  • Own the full portfolio of TV Plus ad formats, including:

    • In-stream video ads (pre/mid/post-roll)

    • Sponsorships and content-aligned branded opportunities

    • Contextual and genre-based ad experiences

    • FAST-native and content-integrated monetization formats

  • Partner with UX and Research to design ad experiences that are content-aware, viewer-appropriate, and scalable globally.

  • Drive faster experimentation and iteration of ad products informed by content performance and viewing patterns.

Demand, Yield & Platform Integrations

  • Partner with Ads Platform and Demand teams to:

    • Optimize fill rate, CPMs, and yield across direct, programmatic, and hybrid demand.

    • Align demand capabilities with content-driven monetization opportunities (e.g., sponsorships, contextual targeting).

  • Act as the product voice of TV Plus supply in broader Samsung Ads platform decisions.

Data, Measurement & Performance

  • Define and own the core monetization KPIs for Samsung TV Plus, including revenue, ARPU, yield, ad load efficiency, and viewer impact.

  • Use experimentation and content-level analytics to guide decisions on ad load, frequency, placement, and format performance.

  • Ensure advertiser-grade measurement and insights reflect both ad outcomes and content context.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of Product Managers focused on TV Plus monetization.

  • Serve as a primary cross-functional partner to:

    • Content & Programming

    • Sales & Account Management

    • Engineering & Data Science

    • Privacy, Policy, UX & Research

  • Represent TV Plus monetization in executive forums, roadmap reviews, and strategic planning.

What Success Looks Like

  • Sustained revenue growth and yield improvement aligned with viewership growth and content strategy.

  • Strong, trusted partnership with the TV Plus Content team, with monetization integrated early into content planning cycles.

  • Monetization products that feel native to the content experience, not layered on top.

  • Clear articulation of how content mix, viewer behavior, and ad strategy reinforce one another.

  • High advertiser adoption without compromising viewer satisfaction or content integrity.

Why This Role Matters:

Samsung TV Plus sits at the intersection of content, distribution, and advertising. This role is critical to ensuring monetization is not an afterthought, but a strategic pillar embedded in how content is programmed, experienced, and scaled globally.

By tightly aligning content strategy with monetization execution, this role unlocks:

  • Higher-quality ad experiences

  • Stronger advertiser outcomes

  • Sustainable revenue growth tied to viewer trust

Ideal Background

  • 12+ years in product management, with deep experience in CTV, streaming, or media monetization

  • Proven ownership of ad-supported video products at scale

  • Strong understanding of FAST economics, linear TV dynamics, and CTV measurement

  • Executive-level communicator with experience influencing sales and content stakeholders

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Los Angeles, CA is expected to be between $210,000 ~ $250,000 base.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) have access to benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Tuition Assistance (after 6 months), Paid Time Off, Student Loan Program (after 6 months), Wellness Incentives, and many more.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
