About the Role
As the Director of Platform Engineering, reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering, you have extensive experience in cloud, back-end services & platforms, and modern stacks and technologies. You will join an existing team that owns and builds services on a highly performant and scalable digital platform. You will bring hands-on experience to these platforms and work closely with engineers to help drive operations, engineering, and delivery. You will lean on your extensive engineering leadership experience to help develop a high performing team. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to help foster a positive and collaborative team culture. This role will have direct reports/managerial responsibilities.
While we prefer candidates who are able to sit in one of our offices (San Francisco, Culver City, Dallas or NYC) we are also open to this role being fully remote.
About the Team
Our development teams support millions of users across web, smart television apps, gaming consoles, as well as partner devices. We collaborate extensively with product, design, program management, video engineering, client engineering, and service monetization to deliver a unique and enriching experience for our customer. Our primary objective is to provide a unique and enriching experience that delights our passionate fans.
About You

- You find joy whether navigating the challenges of leading people, or getting into the weeds of the application infrastructure and architecture
- You have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- You have 10+ years of applicable engineering/development experience
- You have 5+ years of leadership experience in a software engineering capacity.
- You have a high-level understanding of back end services and platforms, frameworks and languages.
- You are familiar with modern development tools and practices.
- You have built and managed high performing development teams while recognizing and nurturing talent, and creating an environment where engineers feels motivated and supported
- Demonstrated Experience with the following:
- Aligning development strategies with overall business objectives.
- Creating and managing development roadmaps.
- Implementing and overseeing testing processes, test automation, continuous integration and delivery.
- Implementing security best practices and measures.
- Building scalable and fault-tolerant systems
- Leading and developing high-performing applications with metrics-based planning.
- You have the following technology skills:
- Languages: Proficiency in Java, C#, Go, Typescript or similar languages
- Frameworks & Libraries: Experience with back-end frameworks and libraries such as Micronaut, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Node.js, ASP.NET or similar.
- Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud as well as familiarity with serverless computing concepts and related services.
- Performance: Understanding of key performance metrics and tools to measure and improve performance

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time-off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
