Wells Fargo
Director of Platform Engineering - Developer Experience & Automation
Be an Early Applicant
As Director of Platform Engineering, you'll lead platform transformation, focusing on automation, API-first services, and improving developer workflows across hybrid cloud environments.
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a hands-on leader to drive the transformation of our enterprise platform into a modern, self-service, GitOps-driven ecosystem. As Director of Platform Engineering, you will lead the design and delivery of API-first platform services and microservice-based abstractions that simplify infrastructure complexity and accelerate application delivery across hybrid cloud environments.
This role is ideal for a developer who understands the toil of infrastructure. Someone who has experienced the challenges of deploying and operating applications and is passionate about removing those barriers for others. You'll build an incremental path from basic automation to full end-to-end self-service, enabling developers to move faster while maintaining operational excellence.
You'll be hands-on: writing and reviewing code, making architecture decisions, and working directly with partner teams. You'll also help define and implement core components of our internal developer platform (IDP), including developer portals, service catalogs, golden paths, and observability integrations. By building on top of existing platform abstractions (e.g., OpenShift, Portworx, MongoDB) and cloud abstractions (GCP, Azure), you'll help create a common control plane that abstracts hybrid cloud complexity and enables seamless application mobility between environments.
Our goal is to accelerate the adoption of cloud-native architectures and modern platforms by reducing complexity and removing barriers. We aim to enable seamless workload portability (stretching, bursting, and consuming cloud services) while empowering teams to use the right tool for the job. Ultimately, we want to make the right thing the easy thing.
In this role, you will:
