The Director of Paid Media at Rankings.io is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing high-impact paid advertising initiatives—primarily across Google Ads and Bing Ads—while driving innovation, operational excellence, and results for our clients. This role combines high-level strategy with hands-on campaign oversight, people leadership, and a small client book of business. The Director will establish new playbooks, internal systems, and scalable templates to elevate campaign performance across the department. They will serve as a mentor and trainer to new hires, a problem-solver for client issues, and a collaborative partner to cross-functional teams. This role may also expand to include oversight of Programmatic and Social Ads depending on scope and structure.
Responsibilities
Channel Ownership & Strategy
- Lead all strategy and performance efforts for Google Ads and Bing Ads.
- Build and document repeatable systems, playbooks, and templates to improve team efficiency and campaign quality.
- Evaluate and test emerging ad formats, betas, and innovations to keep the offering cutting-edge.
Team Leadership & Training
- Manage, mentor, and scale a team of paid media specialists and managers.
- Oversee onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring consistency and high performance.
- Foster a results-driven, collaborative, and feedback-focused culture.
Client Success & Book of Business
- Own a small portfolio of client accounts, including campaign execution, strategy, and reporting.
- Jump into escalated client issues as a senior advisor, driving resolution and retention.
- Collaborate with Account and Sales teams to align paid media with client goals and upsell opportunities.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with the Design, SEO, and Dev teams to enhance ad creative and landing page experience.
- Partner with Sales and RevOps to support prospecting, pitching, and strategic growth planning
Operational & Process Leadership
- Develop QA protocols, campaign tracking templates, SOPs, and reporting systems.
- Monitor campaign performance metrics across the department and drive optimizations.
- Support budget forecasting, resource allocation, and departmental reporting to leadership.
- 7+ years of Paid Media experience, with at least 3 years in a Director-level or similar leadership role
- Proven results managing $1M+ annual ad spend across Google and Bing
- Deep expertise in search marketing, conversion tracking, and performance optimization
- Exceptional problem-solving and project management skills
- Strong leadership presence with experience training and mentoring teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in an agency setting and/or the legal industry (preferred)
- Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 (commensurate with experience)
