The Director, Operations Analytics will lead a focused, high-performing team responsible for evaluating and enhancing the financial and operational performance of the company’s multifamily portfolio. This role bridges the analytical, operational, and strategic functions of the business, translating data into actionable insights that shape reinvestment priorities, redevelopment initiatives and broader business strategy.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial, analytical and multifamily acumen with the ability to communicate complex insights clearly and credibly to executive leadership. They will be skilled at providing sensitive, well-founded recommendations to stakeholders across Operations, Redevelopment, and Finance ensuring that strategic initiatives are both data-driven and effectively implemented.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Leadership & Strategic Insight
- Lead and mentor a small team focused on evaluating and benchmarking operational and financial performance across the multifamily portfolio.
- Continuously refine the company’s analytical framework for assessing performance at the community, regional, and portfolio levels, with a focus on actionable insights and measurable outcomes.
- Synthesize gathered data into a clear, compelling story that informs business strategy, translating analytics into decisions around reinvestment, redevelopment, and long-term portfolio growth.
Portfolio Analytics & Value Creation
- Conduct in-depth analysis of property-level performance to identify trends, operating inefficiencies, and value-add opportunities.
- Assess the financial impact of capital programs, operational initiatives, and redevelopment projects to guide resource allocation and investment decisions.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards and financial models that integrate operational, market, and financial data to support executive decision-making.
- Develop consistent performance metrics, KPIs, and analytical standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with leaders across Operations, Redevelopment, and Finance, to ensure alignment between analytical insights and business execution.
- Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior executives in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
- Provide candid, data-driven feedback to key stakeholders, blending analytical insight with thoughtful communication, sound judgement and professionalism.
- Partner with the Technology group to enhance systems, tools, and data integration supporting operational analytics and reporting.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics or related field required; Master’s degree or other advanced degree preferred.
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in business analytics, asset management, business intelligence or similar roles within multifamily industry; minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing small analytical or strategy teams.
- Demonstrated success translating analytical findings into actionable business strategies.
- Advanced Power BI experience, including dashboard creation and data visualization.
- Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or similar property management systems.

- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze P&L statements, identifying key drivers of performance and variance.

- Clear, concise communicator with the confidence and poise to present to executive leadership.

New hires generally start between $142,000.00 - $177,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.Top Skills
