JOB DESCRIPTION:

Take 5 Oil Change — part of Driven Brands — is looking for a high-performing Director of Media Investments to translate strategy into action and insight. Reporting to the Vice President of Media Investments, this role is accountable for turning media dollars into measurable growth — powering Cars Per Day (CPD), retention, and brand health across our national and local footprint.

A critical piece of this role is owning the media plans for every Grand Opening — ensuring each new shop launches with precision, awareness, and immediate traffic lift.

The Director manages one Senior Manager of Media Analytics & Campaign Management, overseeing campaign execution, budget stewardship, and performance intelligence. In short: the VP sets the bets; this role proves and improves them.

How you will Own It:

  • Grand Opening Media Leadership – Own the planning and execution of media strategies for every new Take 5 location, ensuring strong day-one awareness and sustained week-one traffic.
  • Campaign Execution & Optimization – Lead day-to-day management of national, regional, and local campaigns, ensuring flawless delivery, pacing, and ROI.
  • Performance Intelligence – Oversee dashboard development, pacing reports, and optimization tracking to translate media results into actionable insights.
  • Agency Management – Manage day-to-day relationships with the media AOR, ensuring transparency, accountability, and measurable performance on every buy.
  • Budget Stewardship – Reconcile and report all media spend, partnering with Finance to ensure Ad Fund dollars are used efficiently and predictably.
  • Test & Learn Discipline – Operationalize media pilots and creative tests; measure outcomes and scale what works across markets and channels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Creative, Brand, and Field Marketing to align campaigns with brand storytelling and local activation.
  • Leadership & Development – Manage and coach the Senior Manager of Media Analytics & Campaign Management to deliver accurate, timely, and insight-driven reporting.

What you’ll Bring:

  • Must be able to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • 8–10 years in media planning, buying, or analytics (brand, agency, or multi-unit retail experience preferred).
  • Proven success managing agency relationships and ensuring accountability through data and performance.
  • Strong command of media measurement tools, MMM, and attribution methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Grand Opening or market-launch campaigns at scale.
  • Financial acumen; able to reconcile, forecast, and optimize media budgets.
  • Experience managing and developing team members.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
