- Lead and grow a high-performing mechanical engineering team, including full-time employees and contractors.
- Own the mechanical design strategy — from architecture through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and transition to manufacturing.
- Drive hands-on problem solving for complex electromechanical systems (think robotics, automation, and integrated devices).
- Partner closely with software, electrical, manufacturing, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Champion design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost as we scale.
- Help shape our product development processes — balancing speed, rigor, and innovation.
- Engage with external partners, vendors, and suppliers to support development and production.
- Mechanical engineering leadership experience in a startup or fast-paced tech company (robotics, industrial automation, autonomous vehicles, consumer electronics, medical devices, aerospace, or similar).
- A strong track record of building and shipping complex hardware/software products — ideally electromechanical systems.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with people and process leadership.
- Deep knowledge of mechanical design, prototyping, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Experience guiding teams through ambiguity, fast development cycles, and scaling challenges.
- Strong collaboration skills. You know how to work effectively across disciplines (SW, EE, manufacturing, product).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Enthusiastic about being on site daily at our Lab in the Pasadena area of Los Angeles
- Be part of a mission-driven startup transforming the future of food service through automation and AI.
- Collaborate with passionate engineers, designers, and product leaders.
- Build novel technology that integrates robotics, AI, and IoT in real-world environments.
- Help scale hardware that’s making an impact today.

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
