Our Story
With $1,000 in his pocket, Allen Lund founded this company in 1976 with a vision for a better transportation brokerage. Nearly five decades later, we have grown to over 42 offices nationwide—and we’re still expanding. At ALC, we combine the entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up with the stability and legacy of a trusted industry leader. We’ve built our success on integrity, relationships, and results—and we’re looking for a tech-forward MarCom leader to modernize our communications while honoring our legacy.
The Mission
The Director of MarCom oversees the entire Marketing/Communication. You will be a "Force Multiplier" for our Sales Team, moving beyond traditional support to build a high-tech engine powered by AI and Predictive Analytics. This role is responsible for driving brand awareness, managing complex industry relationships, and continue implementing modern Account Based Marketing (ABM) strategies to accelerate revenue across all offices.
Key Responsibilities & Tech Integration
  • Departmental Leadership: Oversee team, project management, and departmental operations for the MarCom team.
  • AI-Powered Content & Communications: Direct the production of all written and video material, leveraging Generative AI and NLP to scale personalized sales letters, press releases, and high-impact digital content.
  • Sales & ABM Strategy: Continue to grow and develop tech-driven Account Based Marketing (ABM) program, using data to review load and revenue increases by account and office.
  • MarTech & IT Collaboration: Lead high-priority projects with the IT department to enhance the ALC Website (WordPress) and the Marketing Intranet Portal.
  • Digital & Physical Brand Management: Manage all trademarks, and oversee the production of personalized collateral for sales staff, including automated PowerPoint updates and service-specific collateral.
  • Event & Trade Show Evolution: Oversee planning and execution for major conventions utilizing modern lead-capture technology and digital retargeting.
  • Carrier Development Support: Direct marketing efforts for carrier rewards programs, including VIP Carrier Rewards and ALC All-Stars.
  • Association & Community Liaison: Serve as a representative for key professional organizations and manage community involvement events and "Acts of Kindness" initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ Years of Leadership: Proven experience managing a MarCom department, preferably in 3PL or Supply Chain Logistics.
  • Tech-Heavy Skill Set: Proficiency in AI-integrated workflows, CRM management, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Strategic Researcher: Ability to assess demand among shippers, growers, and carriers to inform marketing strategies.
  • Collaborative Partner: Someone ready to provide high-level support for Executives, VPs, and the National Sales Manager.
  • On-site Dedication: This is a high-visibility leadership role at our corporate headquarters in La Cañada Flintridge.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • Legacy & Stability: Join a billion-dollar leader where more than half of our employees have been here 10+ years.
  • Shared Ownership: We are employee-owned—when the company wins, you win.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Profit-sharing, generous 401(k) match, and full benefits.
  • Autonomy: Direct impact on growth strategy with the freedom to implement cutting-edge technology.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
