We are seeking a self-motivated, technically savvy, creative individual to join our team as Director of Marketing. This person will be responsible for all corporate marketing functions within the company. In addition, the Director of Marketing will collaborate with Product, Sales, and other team members to define strategic marketing initiatives, develop and execute a marketing plan, and actively participate in the implementation of our go-to-market and strategic alliance plans.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate marketing and enterprise software, and an experienced knowledge of the information security market. We would like a strategic thinker who is adept in executing marketing plans, with a background in strategic marketing and creative writing, as well as experience in a start-up environment.
The Director of Marketing will direct and manage internal and external communications using digital, social media, and other media. This person will lead and coordinate teams and external resources to develop and refine strategic concepts, plan and execute integrated campaigns, research, analyze, and report on competitor marketing activities. Responsibilities will also include developing and executing marketing communication plans, goals and objectives, and other strategies and tactics as required by corporate initiatives.
This person will develop and implement world-class marketing programs, targeted at our partners, customers, prospects, and influencers, to drive and meet growth and revenue targets. Measures of success will include: a high degree of customer satisfaction (for both internal and external customers); increased qualified leads; high-impact strategic alliances; company revenue and profitability; and world-class marketing programs that you deliver on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Create long-term strategic and short-term tactical plans in alignment with corporate goals and objectives, including growth strategy, industry segment initiatives, and brand platform and positioning.
  • Provide strategic focus and day-to-day management of corporate marketing objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance and execute programs that help promote key products, brand strategy, and initiatives to support marketing and sales objectives.
  • Write and edit presentations, editorials, speeches, newsletter articles, Q & As, video scripts, and other marketing vehicles.
  • Lead the development and production of external-facing corporate & product collateral and sales support material.
  • Direct, create, edit, and oversee all website content.
  • Work with other groups to ensure that company-wide messaging is consistent and aligned with our brand strategies.
  • Conduct and review market research to understand customer needs, satisfaction, and product use.
  • Help develop or improve the communication skills of other team members.
  • Execute programs to generate articles, press releases, and speaking opportunities.
  • As necessary, represent the company professionally in relationships with major customers, strategic partners, investors, suppliers, competitors, professional societies and similar groups.
  • As necessary, streamline, upgrade, and develop the existing organization, while also using external resources to maintain the Company’s leadership position in the marketplace.
  • Formulate short-, medium-, and long-term marketing plans, in accordance with the corporate vision and strategy, and ensure marketing support is provided for strategic initiatives across the business.
  • Enable the firm to realize its strategy through marketing, by taking responsibility for the marketing mix and setting the line of sight for the marketing agenda at a corporate level. Initiate, develop and deliver marketing solutions for the Company, ensuring that they are aligned with and support other growth initiatives such as account management and new business development.
  • Put emphasis on branding and positioning, as well as market research and intelligence and collaborate with colleagues in PR, Analysts, and Research to deliver solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required skills and experience include:

  • B.A. or B.S Degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or Communications combined with 5+ years Marketing experience. MBA and advanced degree is a plus.
  • 2+ years as a Director of Marketing or similar title in the enterprise software or B2B SaaS sector. Proven experience in launching new products is a plus.
  • Experience in product marketing and sales with a company specializing in an associated field such as content management, information security, network management, ILM, or security software is highly desired.
  • Experience defining and implementing marketing campaigns, online advertising, and public relations activities.
  • Solid technical expertise and ability to dissect infrastructure and security product strengths and weaknesses.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, strategic thinking, active problem solving, and cost-effective marketing planning and budgeting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with a multi-disciplined team and lead through influence and collaboration. Strong facilitation and coordination skills.
  • Strong personal leadership, crisp time management and sound project management skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with ambiguity and drive important activities and communications across sales, marketing, and executive teams.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, excellent relationship-management skills, and a passion for results.
  • Master of effective communication with internal and external audiences, regardless of their position in the organization.
  • A track record of successful work in a rapid-paced, high-growth company.
  • Proven working relationship with analysts covering the enterprise software and security space.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to strike a balance between providing strong direction and working smoothly in a team environment.
  • Energy, motivation, and an ability to lead and inspire colleagues and clients alike.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
