General Description:

We are seeking a Director of Marketing Technology Operations to join our team. The Director of Marketing Technology Operations is responsible for all the elements of the marketing technology stack that supports business development and marketing activities across the firm. This role will support the firm’s attorneys and a high performing business development and marketing team. This individual will report directly to the Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer (“CBDMO”) and will align their focus and with the priorities of the CBDMO and the firm.

This position oversees Marketing Technology Operations and manages execution of marketing and strategic growth projects, coordinates efforts of marketing and business development members on cross-functional projects and tasks. Important success factors for this role include improving the use of analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of our interactions with clients, evaluating opportunities for growth in new markets and analyzing the return on investments of strategic practice development activities. This position offers a hybrid schedule, providing flexibility to work from home or the office. Currently, this role requires weekly in-office attendance, as well as participation in occasional team meetings, training sessions, and firm-sponsored events.  

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Marketing:

  • Oversee all marketing technology tools that support business development activities including CRM, supporting experience management tools, proposal writing solutions, digital marketing platforms for events, website technologies, data visualization tools and other related marketing technology where necessary.

  • Implement department processes, technologies and procedures that optimize performance and efficiency of marketing and business development efforts. 

  • Develop and oversee a firmwide platform for executing, tracking, reporting and provides analysis (e.g., analytics) on all marketing and business development activities.

  • Identify, develop and implement, in conjunction with the Knowledge & Innovation and IT departments and the Innovation Group, any innovative marketing technologies.

  • Oversee centralized data repositories and reporting functionality for marketing and business development.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Regional Marketing & Events for centralized event operations and support, firmwide alumni programs and development of new processes and tools for executing events. 

  • Manage the execution of firmwide and strategic growth initiatives and projects with senior business development and marketing team members.

  • Manage the completion of annual marketing and BD project plan and other cross functional marketing and BD projects with senior marketing team members.

General:

  • Demonstrate sustained performance in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Help ensure that the Marketing Department is complying with policies and best practices relating to data privacy, such as the safeguarding of client, firm and personal data.

  • Assist with the Marketing Department’s implementation of the firm’s AI strategy, including adoption of firm-approved uses of generative AI for functions performed by the Marketing Department.

  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside of the firm.

  • Demonstrates great initiative and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions with high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and work concurrently on a variety of projects and requests, providing a solutions-oriented approach.

  • Ability to keep confidential any sensitive information, observations, or viewpoints regarding firm personnel or matters.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • 10+ years of management experience.

  • Expert knowledge of relevant marketing technologies and systems including, client relationship management (CRM), electronic marketing distribution, website and mobile web technologies, content management systems, experience and information tracking for purposes of providing analysis for new business.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Foundation, eMarketing systems and other Firm applications.

  • Experience in managing and executing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Experience in implementing large-scale systems and technologies.

  • Proficiency in research; general knowledge of corporate structures and basic corporate research.

  • Proficiency in marketing databases and data manipulation skills in common data storage formats.

  • Prior law firm experience.

  • Ability to work extended hours and to travel to other offices and off site as needed. 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or technology field.

This position may be filled in Illinois, District of Columbia, New York, or California. The base salary ranges for this position are listed below. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations.  An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, Holland & Knight provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.

  • Illinois – $209,000 - $313,000/yr

  • District of Columbia – $228,000 - $342,000/yr

  • New York City – $228,000 - $342,000/yr

  • California - $228,000 - $342,000/yr
