Reporting to the VP Marketing, the candidate will play a pivotal role in driving Fairstone Bank’s growth by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, building strong partner relationships, and scaling our existing partnerships strategy. 

As Director of Marketing Partnerships, you will work closely with cross-functional business teams to expand Fairstone’s reach and enhance the distribution of its product offerings. Your efforts will be critical in driving revenue and ensuring Fairstone remains at the forefront of innovation in the Canadian lending landscape.

This represents a unique opportunity to be part of a market-leading team with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in providing value-laden consumer lending products to Canadians. The incumbent must be a strong leader who can build relationships within and outside of the organization in order to:

  • Develop and Execute Growth Strategies:

    • Identify high-impact business opportunities and design strategies that align with Fairstone’s vision and objectives.

    • Build a comprehensive growth roadmap, balancing short-term wins with long-term strategic initiatives.

  • Lead Partnership Development:

    • Proactively identify and engage potential partners across industries, including fintech, retail, financial institutions, and digital platforms.

    • Structure and negotiate partnership agreements that drive significant revenue and value for both Fairstone and its partners.

    • Deepen existing relationships to expand Fairstone’s product offerings and customer base.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with Marketing, Product and Business Line teams to ensure seamless integration of new partnerships and initiatives.

  • Drive Revenue Growth:

    • Establish and manage a robust pipeline of business opportunities, ensuring a steady flow of partnerships that align with Fairstone’s financial goals.

    • Create and implement strategies to maximize partner performance and drive incremental revenue.

  • Establish Key Metrics and Reporting:

    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business development initiatives.

    • Provide detailed reports and insights, ensuring data-driven decision-making.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Build and mentor a high-performing business development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

    • Set clear goals and expectations, providing regular coaching and feedback to support team growth and development.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of business development or partnerships experience, preferably within fintech, financial services, or technology.

  • Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-impact deals that drive revenue and strategic growth.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including C-level executives.

  • High adaptability and drive: You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and are comfortable navigating ambiguity and uncertainty.

  • Ability to work independently and still retain a high level of self-motivation; a possession of a high degree of professional as well as personal integrity; an ability to work effectively in a group setting and the ability to lead that group in a unified direction; being detail orientated; superior time management and organizational skills; and an ability to conceptualize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with ease.
