JOB PURPOSE
Supplier Operations oversees the entire procurement lifecycle. This includes onboarding and managing master data for ~20,000 suppliers, handling contracts and payments for €38 billion in procurement spend. The team also manages tail spend sourcing for MBS and Capex/MRO, the forecasting process, and the execution of the Responsible Partner Policy. Having achieved peer world-class benchmarks, Supplier Operations is now focused on an ambitious agenda of simplifying, digitizing, and automating processes to achieve digital-native costs and operational KPIs. Additionally, the team is exploring opportunities to build advanced analytics capabilities, leveraging data to provide insights that enable procurement to add even greater value.
The Supplier Operations Director is a member of the Supplier Operations Leadership Team. The role will ensure delivery of the payments operations in his geography and the delivery of contract operations globally. The role also needs to ensure process governance and performance reviews of the partner/s for the respective services. It is beneficial for the person to have a basic understanding of Procurement strategy, priorities, and role in the broader Unilever organization. The Director will leverage organizational knowledge and work closely with all relevant stakeholders at all levels to address priority business questions, with a focus on costs, service and experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure service delivery of operational metrics for payments and contracting.
    Govern, review and deliver 3rd party service provider performance and overall costs.

  • Engage with the procurement and finance stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and processes like clockwork.

  • Be the face of Supplier Operations to the teams in the market across business, finance and procurement.

  • Owner for the 3rd party service provider operated GFCF and GPM controls and accountable for their effectiveness.

  • Accountable for ensuring GPM compliance , approving DTPs and reporting exceptions.

  • Be an active member of the Supplier Operations Leadership Team and help the team to deliver on the digital native ambition.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree Completed;

  • CSCP/CPSM/CA/CPA or CPP qualification with Procurement/Finance experience in Unilever or at least one other global organization with similar industry – varied across expertise, controllership and partnering;

    • Experience of leading and landing major projects;

    • Managing large teams and delivering through 3rd party service providers;

    • Has the necessary experience and cultural awareness to work with a geographically, culturally diverse and global team.

SKILLS

  • Business Acumen: Have an appreciation of business and procurement strategy to enable better delivery of operations as well as ensure delivery of great stakeholder experience.

  • Service Delivery Management: Supplier Operations is a 90% outsourced model. Delivering the key objectives therefore requires a strong governance and management of KPIs. Should have a passion for operations and demonstrate curiosity and agility.

  • Strategic Thinking: See the bigger picture and being able to identify opportunities and challenges and ways to make the process better, faster and more reliable.

  • Effective Communication & Stakeholder Management: Being able to connect and communicate with business stakeholders and influence them.

  • Team Management: Must have exceptional people leadership skills. This extends beyond the immediate team to members of our 3rd party service providers as well.

  • Financial Controls Management: The value of transactions managed by this role is very high. Hence the role benefits from an understanding of financial controls.
