The role advises the CEO and leadership team, triages employment and general legal matters, supports sales and partnerships, manages disputes, and coordinates with parent-company legal teams. The position requires independent judgment under US law and may expand into a broader legal remit as the company grows.

Who Are We?

RZR is an AI-native advertising platform built for the next era of performance marketing. We operate at the intersection of machine learning, programmatic media, and full-funnel mobile growth, powering campaigns for some of the world's most ambitious advertisers. Our platform is purpose-built to deliver outcomes at scale, not just impressions.

We are a team of builders, operators, and technologists who believe the advertising industry is overdue for a fundamental rethink. We move fast, operate with a high degree of ownership, and hold ourselves to an exceptionally high standard of craft.

RZR is scaling aggressively with an active M&A pipeline and a platform vision that puts us on a path to becoming an industry leader. This is a rare opportunity to join a company at an inflection point and help shape what it becomes.

Role Overview

RZR is hiring its first dedicated in-house legal hire — a Director of Legal who will own the commercial contracting engine that keeps deals moving: client insertion orders, NDAs, DPAs, and partner and vendor agreements, almost entirely under US law.

You will report directly to CEO Aman Sareen, triage employment and general legal matters as they arise, and manage the outside firms RZR currently relies on for work beyond day-to-day commercial contracts. You will work within the legal standards of FIRY, our parent company, and partner with the FIRY legal team on cross-entity and higher-complexity matters.

This is a build-from-scratch mandate: you will define how contracts get done at RZR — templates, negotiation posture, triage process, and outside counsel management — rather than inheriting a playbook someone else wrote.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Contracting
  • Draft, negotiate, and close client insertion orders (IOs), NDAs, and partner and vendor agreements under US law, turning legal review from a bottleneck into a fast, predictable step in the deal cycle
  • Own data processing agreements (DPAs), balancing client and regulatory requirements against RZR's actual data flows and vendor stack
  • Build and maintain a library of templates, playbooks, and fallback positions for IOs, NDAs, and DPAs so common deals can move without a full legal review each time
  • Build and run AI tools and workflows to process template-driven documents such as NDAs, with legal review kept for non-standard terms
Legal Operations & Outside Counsel
  • Triage incoming employment and general legal questions, resolving straightforward matters directly and routing the rest to outside counsel with clear scoping
  • Manage RZR's outside law firms — controlling spend, scoping matters, and holding firms accountable to timelines and cost
  • Serve as the first point of contact for legal questions across the company, giving the CEO and leadership team a clear read on risk before it becomes a decision point
Growth & Partnership
  • Partner with sales, partnerships, and finance to understand deal structures and vendor relationships well enough to spot issues before they reach a contract
  • Coordinate with the parent company's legal team on matters that cross entities or require broader legal support
  • Build the judgment and track record to grow into a broader legal remit as RZR's needs scale
Required Skills and ExperienceMust-Have
  • JD and active bar admission in at least one US state
  • At least 3 years of post-JD experience in commercial or transactional practice (in-house or law firm), with hands-on drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements — IOs, NDAs, MSAs, or equivalent
  • Direct experience negotiating DPAs and working knowledge of US state data privacy frameworks (including CCPA) and GDPR as they apply to vendor and partner data flows
  • Demonstrated comfort operating independently under US law — this is a one-person legal function reporting directly to the CEO, with no internal legal team to lean on day-to-day
  • Experience managing or coordinating with outside counsel, including scoping matters and controlling spend
  • Ability to manage commercial disputes and aspects of negotiations with minimal supervision
Nice-to-Have
  • Working familiarity with employment law fundamentals in California, New York, and other states where RZR has or expects significant headcount — enough to triage confidently, not necessarily to resolve independently
  • Experience at a media, adtech, SaaS, or programmatic advertising company where IOs and partner agreements are a high-volume, recurring contract type
  • Prior in-house experience is a plus, not a requirement
Work Setup

Bay Area, CA preferred; New York, NY is equally good. Los Angeles and Las Vegas are also acceptable. Fully remote is possible for the right candidate, but co-location with the executive team is preferred.

Why Join RZR?
  • Direct line to the CEO from day one — this role reports to the CEO and is RZR's first dedicated legal hire, with high visibility inside a public company group and a real seat at the table on deal and risk decisions
  • Real ownership, not inherited process — you define how contracts get done at RZR: the templates, the negotiation posture, the triage process, and the outside counsel relationships. There is no playbook to execute — you write it
  • Backed, not alone — you work to FIRY group legal standards, with the FIRY legal team as a genuine partner on cross-entity and higher-complexity matters. High autonomy without being isolated
  • A growth mandate, explicitly stated — leadership is hiring for trajectory. There is real room to take on more as the company and the legal function scale, and that expectation is built into the role from the start
  • Contracting work that moves revenue — the IOs and partner agreements you close have a direct line to deal velocity and revenue outcomes, not paperwork sitting in a queue
RZR Behaviors

RZR operates by eight core behaviors: Extreme Ownership · Move Fast · Drive for Excellence · Proactive Communication · Courage · Curiosity · Deliver Results · Manage Ambiguity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
