The Director, Legal (Employment) will oversee employment law issues, support workforce initiatives, draft contracts, and assist HR with legal matters. They will need to ensure compliance and manage relationships with external counsel.
ActiveCampaign is looking to add a Director, Legal (Employment) to our Legal team. This is a pivotal role where the successful candidate will serve as the company’s dedicated employment law subject matter expert. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will play a crucial role in shaping and supporting our global workforce initiatives, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive and productive environment
What your day could consist of:
- Assisting the ActiveCampaign Legal and People departments with a variety of legal issues related to the company's global workforce.
- Partnering closely with various members of the People team, particularly the HR Business Partner team, on workplace investigations and other employee relations matters.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing various contracts and policies, such as employment agreements and offer letters, variable compensation letters, staffing agreements, talent search agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, and various company policies across the ActiveCampaign entities.
- Assist with interpretation, application, and staff training related to company policies, such as counseling on the application of various company disciplinary procedures.
- Coordinate with external labor and employment counsel on a variety of legal issues.
What is needed:
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and/or California
- 4-year undergraduate degree.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- 7+ years of experience as an attorney with a strong focus on labor and employment law.
- Experience managing and/or advising clients with global workforces.
- Experience with Irish, Australian, Polish, Brazilian, Mexican, Costa Rican, and other LATAM legal regimes is preferred.
- Ideal candidates will also have experience with one or more of the following: dispute resolution, employment classification/FLSA, negotiating, administering, and/or drafting employee benefit plans, immigration laws, and familiarity with data privacy and data protection laws.
- Must have excellent research, organizational, and project management skills and be capable of tracking and completing multiple tasks in a timely manner.
