Position Overview:

The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and direction of the laboratory services department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and promoting continuous improvement in processes and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement strategic plans for the laboratory in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory technology and methodologies, ensuring the laboratory remains at the forefront of diagnostic services.
Operational Management:

Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring efficient and accurate testing services.
Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Ensure the laboratory adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
Develop and maintain a robust quality assurance program to ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results.
Staff Management and Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities for laboratory personnel.
Budget and Resource Management:

Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
Oversee the procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies.
Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with other departments and clinical teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory services, addressing concerns and providing expert guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.
Safety and Risk Management:

Ensure that all laboratory activities adhere to safety standards and protocols.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

Requirements
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in clinical laboratory settings, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.
Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing laboratory operations.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to make informed decisions under pressure and handle complex situations.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biohazards.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift or move equipment as needed.
