Job Summary

The Director, Project Management is responsible for overseeing the effective development, planning and execution of key strategic initiatives, driving system development lifecycle (SDLC) standards, policies and procedures as well as leading the project management processes across all IT initiatives. The Director is also charged with ensuring the effective delivery of single or multi-year strategic initiatives across all areas by ensuring effective control of scope, resources, milestones and issue resolution.

This leader is a ‘Strategic Do-er’ with leadership qualities that will drive teams to develop overall IT strategies across the enterprise. The Director will coordinate the planning of strategic plans across all areas of IT, ensure business engagement and value assessments, drive innovative solution investigations and proof of concept initiatives and lead/co-lead major strategy development for initiatives that affect multiple areas of IT.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and management of key processes that drive project management, strategy execution, and Commercialization of key strategic priorities. Processes include reporting, KPIs, and state gate management.
  • Partner with IT and Business leadership to identify and manage the pipeline of strategically aligned growth opportunities, and develop plans for executing supporting initiatives, which may include sustaining, stretch, and breakthrough innovation.
  • Director and their reports will manage large-scale, high impact transformation programs and lead and direct the daily activities of team members on multiple interrelated programs at the macro level, to ensure high quality and cost-effective services and end-to-end success of the overall program.
  • Partner with SI lead and Business Lead to ensure design meets requirements and gaps and/or issues are identified / resolved
  • Delivery responsibilities include the integrity, availability, and security of the ERP Application solution (including all integration) and that the delivered systems meet established IT goals.
  • Removing blockers that are at a higher level than individual projects, and escalating appropriately any blockers that require Senior Management review
  • Define the value to be achieved in terms of strategic benefits, cost efficiency and increased sales and margin for IT initiatives. Driving prioritization of initiatives across IT and Business Executive Leadership
  • As part of overall Project and Program Planning responsibilities, work with IT leaders in building an effective plans and budgets for cross-functional implementation success:
  • Define and present project options with pros/cons to project team and Stakeholders
  • Partner with business program owners and stakeholders to drive requirement gathering, solutioning, testing, change management, and deployment through support activities.
  • Determine complexity of program schedule and interdependencies to other transformational initiatives to create execution plans to meet sponsor expectations
  • Manage the pipeline and the overall approval process of all projects with IT leaders
  • Support the IT Leadership in each area to manage and execute program governance processes, expectations, and ceremonies; document and publish per Kontoor methodology requirements
  • Drive initial requirements gathering activities to develop the overall scoping, estimating, resource models, deployment schedules and scheduling the work efforts
  • Build an effective team of program resources from internal and external sources by partnering with Resource Managers to ensure proper Subject Matter Expert resources are available to engage in the program/ projects required to execute
  • Navigate the projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, including vendor proposals, planning phase, execution and monitoring phases, and close out

Leadership

  • Strategic thinker with formal business education, willingness to learn
  • Innovation and Strategy experience with demonstrated expertise in delivering strategic initiatives
  • Proven ability leading large, complex global ERP/SAP transformation programs
  • Previous Experience in leading functional areas of SAP like FI, OTC, PTP or PP
  • Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills, including the ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace, and execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to build and lead integrated teams from various internal and external organizations across multiple sites.
  • Able to foster and build a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and relational skills, including the ability to lead effective presentations, and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Currently a Director or Senior Manager with direct experience leading IT strategy and Project Management Office responsibilities
  • Years of Related Professional Experience: 15+ years’ experience with project and process management, extensive exposure to strategy processes – PMI Certification is preferred
  • 10+ years of SAP Apparel and Footwear, Fashion Management or Consumer Products industry experience preferred
  • 10+ years minimum experience in SAP configuration or programming leadership with recent hands-on experience - preferred. Lead development, testing, planning and execution of the following:
    • SAP Configuration for Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Finance or Production
    • Integration Testing
    • Cutover planning and execution
  • 10+ years minimum experience in Leading SAP functional teams.
    • Project management experience required
    • Ability to manage and coach staff
    • Number of people managed – minimum 15
  • Experience working in the global wholesale apparel or retail industry preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline , IT project management or related field, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the wholesale, retail or consulting field or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities - Master’s Degree is a Plus
  • Subject matter expertise: PPM tools, PMI best practices for Agile and Waterfall, PMO and governance, Risk Management, Supplier/Vendor Management, Stakeholder management and communication
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Smartsheets, ALM Test Management preferred
  • Global travel by air and overnight, as required by project need; could be up to 10%
