MS Director of IT Operations

 

Company Overview:   

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of IT Operations to lead our IT infrastructure initiatives in alignment with our client’s organizational goals and the evolving healthcare landscape.  This role would lead IT Operations at a $2B healthcare enterprise dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and organizational efficiency.

Position Summary: 

The Director of IT Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations, planning, implementation, management, and optimization of our client’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of secure and reliable services to support our healthcare environment. This role will require a strategic leader who can drive innovative solutions in a complex healthcare environment while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safeguarding patient data.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the IT infrastructure strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand infrastructure needs and future technology trends.
    • Ensure that our IT infrastructure supports the organization’s growth and operational needs.
  2. Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing IT infrastructure team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  3. Infrastructure Planning & Optimization:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of network, data centers, cloud services, and communication systems.
    • Evaluate and optimize infrastructure processes, including system integration and performance monitoring.
    • Maintain and develop back up, patching and restoral protocols within IT Operations and aligned with organizational Cyber Security guidelines and industry best practices. 
  4. Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure robust security measures are implemented across the IT infrastructure, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
    • Stay updated with health IT regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and ensure compliance across all infrastructure operations.
    • Develop incident response plans and lead the team in resolving security breaches and vulnerabilities.
  5. Vendor and Budget Management:
    • Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts and ensure quality service delivery.
    • Develop and oversee the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions that drive ROI.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, operational, and administrative staff, to understand their infrastructure needs and challenges.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.

Technical Skills Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure components including networking, servers, storage, and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in data center management, virtualization technologies, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with healthcare-specific systems (EMR/EHR, telehealth, etc.) and compliance standards (HIPAA, HITRUST).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices (NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Hands-on knowledge of IT service management (ITIL) and experience with monitoring and performance management tools.
  • Experience with modern technologies such as AI, machine learning, and big data analytics in healthcare settings.

Security Skills Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and infrastructure security protocols.
  • Experience in identifying potential security risks and implementing preventive measures.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage incident response effectively.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations relevant to healthcare IT.

Interpersonal Skills Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to convey technical information clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across various departments within a healthcare organization.
  • Skilled in negotiating and influencing stakeholders toward infrastructure initiatives.
  • Capacity for strategic thinking and change management in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the healthcare sector.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), etc.) are a plus.

Salary Range

$150,000$175,000 USD
