ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Director of Investor Relations & Strategic Finance to play a critical role in Stord’s journey toward an initial public offering (IPO). This is a unique and high-impact position that sits at the intersection of investor relations and strategic financial planning. You will be instrumental in developing and executing our long-term financial strategy, serving as the primary point of contact for the investment community, and preparing the organization for the rigors of being a public company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and Execute a 5-Year Strategic Plan: Own the company's long-term financial strategy, including a five-year plan that aligns with our growth objectives. You will work closely with the CFO and other executive leaders to ensure financial and operational plans are cohesive and achievable.

  • Lead Investor Relations: Manage all aspects of investor relations, including developing and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, analysts, and the wider financial community. You will be the primary spokesperson for the company on financial performance and strategic direction.

  • IPO Preparation and Compliance: Partner with the CFO to lead the preparation for an IPO, ensuring robust financial controls, legal compliance, and corporate governance are in place. This includes preparing investor presentations, roadshow materials, and other public-facing documents.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with the FP&A team and other departments to gather data, analyze performance, and create a unified financial story. You will act as a key liaison between the finance function and the rest of the organization, translating financial metrics into actionable insights.

  • Strategic Communication: Craft and deliver clear, confident presentations to senior leadership and investors. You will be responsible for turning highly technical information into a cohesive and persuasive story that influences internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in Investment Banking and/or strong background in FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis). Experience in a demanding environment such as Investment Banking (IB) is highly valued.

  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and corporate finance. Must be highly proficient in Excel and Google Sheets.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to present complex topics to diverse audiences. You should have a track record of building trust and rapport with leadership and investors.

  • Leadership & Influence: The ability to influence across all levels of the organization and distill complex information into a clear and compelling narrative.

  • Mindset: A strategic, detail-oriented, and confident approach with a "no fear" attitude when presenting to senior leaders and the investment community.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
