OUR PURPOSE + VALUES:

MAGNA infuses the organization with knowledge that empowers better decision-making. We are a team of experts across five key competencies who support IPG cross-functional teams through:

  1. Partnership
  2. Enablement
  3. Accountability
  4. Connectivity
  5. Education
Responsibilities
  • Be a flexible, cross-functional contributor on our team, working alongside Engineering, Project Management, and Research to tackle a wide range of client and internal initiatives. You’ll wear multiple hats — from survey programming and business analysis to light data science and thought leadership — and help us build smarter, more efficient ways of working.
  • Adopt and contribute to our team’s Azure DevOps process for source control and Agile project management. Apply git best practices and help improve our workflows and tooling.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and project managers to scope and deliver solutions. For example, help write and program a custom survey, assist in building internal tools, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and delivery.
  • Support research design and analytics by applying foundational statistical thinking — including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and basic modeling — to answer client questions and guide decision-making. Be able to communicate at an appropriate technical level to match the audience.
  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experiment with new tools, processes, and ideas to improve software efficiency and team productivity.
  • Learn third-party survey tools and gain proficiency with advanced survey logic programming to build custom consumer surveys.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and internal R&D projects, and assist the team with ad hoc requests as needed. Be willing and eager to jump in and help fix any problem or task.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a hybrid role involving analytics, business analysis, or technical project work.
  • Strong analytical thinker and problem solver with a bias toward action.
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to engage stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.
  • Experience with tools such as Azure, GitHub, Python, SQL, or survey platforms.
  • Detail-oriented in documentation, code comments, and handoffs — you set others up for success.
  • Motivated to learn, grow, and improve processes. You bring ideas to the table and take initiative without waiting to be asked.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with DevOps, Agile, or CRISP-DM methodologies.
  • Familiarity with business justification, stakeholder engagement, or optimization frameworks.
  • Exposure to digital media, advertising metrics, or consumer research is a plus.
  • Experience with scripting, APIs, or software engineering practices.
  • Advanced degree or training in a technical, analytical, or STEM field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
