Job Description

The Director of HR Technology is responsible for leading the strategic direction, implementation, and optimization of HR technology solutions to support business goals and enhance the employee experience, primarily through the Workday Human Capital Management platform. This role partners closely with internal teams to ensure HR systems and processes are efficient, scalable, and compliant with regulatory requirements and internal policy. The Director supervises a team that drives digital transformation initiatives, manages vendor relationships, oversees system governance, and enables data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein.  Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

HR Technology Strategy & Roadmap

  • Develop and execute a multi-year HR technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy and workforce needs.

  • Identify and implement emerging HR technologies, such as AI-driven automation and employee self-service tools, to improve efficiency.

  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to modernize HR processes, enhance user experience, and drive innovation.

System Implementation & Optimization

  • Lead system implementations, enhancements, and integrations, ensuring seamless operation and adoption.

  • Oversee the selection, configuration, and deployment of HRIS, payroll, benefits, talent management, time tracking, and other HR applications.

  • Manage system releases and upgrades from test to production environments, ensuring minimal disruption.

Data Management & Advanced Analytics

  • Ensure HR data integrity, security, and governance across all HR technology platforms.

  • Develop and implement advanced analytics and workforce insights to improve talent management, employee engagement, and business decision-making.

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to build and maintain dashboards and predictive models for workforce planning and retention strategies, and help lead the effective use of AI-powered tools for HR analysis and decision-making.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure HR systems comply with U.S. labor laws, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Security teams to mitigate risks related to HR data privacy and security.

  • Establish audit and governance controls to maintain system integrity and regulatory compliance.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Management

  • Act as a strategic advisor to HR and business leaders on HR technology trends and innovations.

  • Partner with HR, IT, Payroll, and other stakeholders to optimize system configurations and business processes.

  • Lead change management efforts, including user training, communications, and adoption strategies for HR technology solutions.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee SaaS and on-premise HR technology solutions.

  • Ensure HR technology investments are cost-effective and deliver ROI.

  • Oversee HR technology budgets and resource allocation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices

  • Establish and implement best practices for system configuration, security, and governance.

  • Stay current with HR technology trends and innovations, recommending solutions to enhance business performance.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating user feedback and optimizing HR systems accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leveraging Workday's Human Capital Management platform to enable efficient processes, accurate reporting, and support both HR, employees, and managers at all levels.

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of HR & Payroll processes, procedures, and policies to translate business requirements into systems

  • Experience in business requirements gathering, process analysis and design, gap analysis, functional design specifications, system configuration, and development of reports, system tests, procedures and documentation

  • Strong written and verbal communication, and project management skills

  • Must work well under pressure, be sensitive to deadlines, and be able to adapt quickly to change

  • Exceptional attention to detail and possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, team building, and customer service skills

  • Must be able to troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate solutions for system issues to the business

  • Self-motivated, proactive, with a willingness to learn and a strong sense of accountability and a proven track record of delivering results

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing implementation, configuration, and use of HR technology solutions

  • At least 4 years of hands-on implementation and configuration experience in Workday HCM modules including HCM, Benefits, Advanced Compensation, Learning, Talent, Recruiting, Time, and Absence

  • At least 2 years of experience in managing a team including evaluating performance, delegating tasks, and supporting growth and development.

Preferred Requirements:

  • PHR, SPHR, CCP, CBP, CEBS, or similar professional HR certification

  • Workday Payroll module experience

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
