Who is Sonar?

Sonar is driving the future of agent-centric software development. As the leader in AI code verification and governance, we solve a critical problem: ensuring that software generated by AI-assisted developers or autonomous agents is reliable, secure, and maintainable.

Integrating seamlessly with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, and Devin, we help over 75% of the Fortune 100 build trusted, reliable, compliant software. Customers who use Sonar are 44% less likely to report an outage due to AI-generated code.

We believe code verification is the critical missing link in the Agent-Centric Development Cycle (AC/DC). Industry giants like Nvidia, ServiceNow, Booking.com, Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca, and Ford Motor Company count on us to provide independent, explainable, consistent review and governance of their AI-generated code via products like:

  • SonarQube: The world’s leading AI code review and verification platform.

  • SonarQube Foundation Agent: Currently topping the leaderboards for agentic software repair.

  • SonarSweep & Sonar Context Augmentation: Providing the enterprise-grade context and constraints agents need to be truly effective.

Our team operates across global hubs in Austin, Bochum, Dubai, Geneva, London, San Mateo (California), Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington D.C. We move with a mindset we call CODE:

  • Committed to our customers and community.

  • Obsessed with quality.

  • Deliberate in our decisions.

  • Effective as one team.

With over $400M in revenue and profitable, fast-paced growth, we are building the backbone of the AI software revolution. If you’re hungry to have an impact, want to build at a fast pace, and are ready to work at the forefront of AI, we want to hear from you.

Position description

Sonar is continuing to grow fast, and our ability to hire exceptional talent globally is core to that growth. We're looking for a Director, Head of Global Recruiting, based in our Austin, Texas HQ to lead the strategy, team, and systems behind talent acquisition worldwide. Reporting to the CHRO and working alongside our ELT, you'll lead a globally distributed recruiting team and partner with stakeholders in all our hubs from Singapore to Geneva. This is a role that spans strategy all the way to execution — we need a leader who can set the vision for a world-class recruiting function while personally owning a req load and staying close to the work. You'll bring deep, hands-on experience modernizing how recruiting teams operate with the newest technologies — not just using AI tools, but having rebuilt recruiting processes around them, and a genuine passion and track record for building a successful recruiting operation as the foundation of a scalable, high-performing talent function.

What you will do

    • Lead and develop a high-performing, globally distributed recruiting team, while personally owning a req load and leading searches directly — modeling the standard you expect from the team

    • Partner with stakeholders across every hub to ensure hiring strategy reflects the realities of each local market and business unit

    • Own requisition administration and management, partnering closely with FP&A on headcount planning, budget tracking, and forecasting against approved plan

    • Redesign and modernize recruiting processes and infrastructure, leveraging the newest technologies to fundamentally change how the TA function sources, assesses, and closes talent — not just layering AI tools onto existing workflows

    • Build recruiting operations as a true foundation for the function: process design, data infrastructure, reporting cadence, and systems that let the team scale without breaking

    • Lead full-cycle recruiting for a mix of highly technical engineering roles and high-growth B2B SaaS GTM roles, building talent-dense teams across both domains

    • Own recruiting metrics and reporting using data to drive continuous improvement

    • Partner with the Compensation Director to inform and align on competitive offers across global markets, bringing market intelligence to compensation strategy and decisions

    • Build strong partnership with HR Operations, working closely on visas/immigration, right-to-work verification, onboarding, and background checks to ensure a seamless candidate-to-employee transition

    • Build and evolve employer branding and talent marketing strategies to strengthen Sonar's positioning as a top destination for AI, engineering, and GTM talent

    • Own the recruiting technology stack (ATS, sourcing tools, assessment platforms) and lead evaluation and adoption of new tools as the team scales

    • Ensure compliance with local employment and hiring regulations across all global hub locations

    • Champion a consistent, high-quality candidate experience from first touch through offer and onboarding

Experience and qualifications

    • Have 10+ years of recruiting experience, including tenured experience running a high-performing team and function while directly owning a req load

    • Have wide and deep experience across both technical and non-technical recruiting — including highly technical engineering recruitment and building a talent-dense GTM division within a high-growth B2B SaaS company

    • Have proven, hands-on experience rebuilding a recruiting process using the newest technologies to fundamentally optimize how a TA team operates — deeper than prompting LLMs, this means having led the redesign itself

    • Have a strong background in recruiting operations, with a genuine passion for why recops is the foundation of a successful, scalable recruiting team

    • Have experience managing requisition administration and recruiting budgets, with a track record of close partnership with FP&A on headcount planning and forecasting

    • Have experience negotiating commercial terms and contracts with recruiting agencies, working closely with Procurement and Legal to drive value and manage vendor spend effectively

    • Have working knowledge of compensation practices across global markets, and can contribute meaningfully to compensation strategy in partnership with a Compensation Director

    • Have strong experience partnering with HR Operations on visas/immigration, right-to-work, onboarding, and background check processes

    • Have experience leading globally distributed recruiting teams and partnering with stakeholders across multiple international markets and time zones

    • Have demonstrated success operating as both a strategic leader and an individual contributor — comfortable setting vision and strategy while staying hands-on with sourcing and closing

    • Bring strong data fluency, with a track record of using recruiting metrics to drive decision-making and process improvement

    • Have experience partnering with senior executives and acting as a strategic advisor on talent and organizational planning

    • Have led employer branding or talent marketing initiatives that measurably improved candidate pipeline quality or volume

    • Bring excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and across cultures

    • Be based in, or willing to relocate to, Austin, Texas, with a commitment to the in-office collaboration model

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
