Director, Field Marketing

We are looking for a Director of Field Marketing that is excited to bring Pulumi’s cloud management platform to the world. You will be a part of realizing a vision where every developer can harness the power of the cloud.

As the Director of Field Marketing, you will bridge the gap between sales and marketing to ensure our field events and programs are maximized within each seller’s territory and target account list. You’ll support the sales team by enabling regional marketing programs, taking a proactive approach to planning and executing initiatives that are both strategic and creative.

At Pulumi you will be challenged, learn, teach, and collaborate with an elite team of great people.

Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA, but we are a remote-first company. This role can be based anywhere in the U.S. where we are authorized to hire.

In This Role You Will:
  • Create, expand and accelerate sales opportunities through regional and account-focused marketing campaigns
  • Adapt digital and content marketing programs to the needs of a regional sales team
  • Partner closely with our Director of Performance marketing to ensure our digital marketing programs provide support and coverage for ABM and regional field campaigns
  • Partner closely with our Director of Events Marketing to identify opportunities to maximize our presence at industry conferences, partner events and regional meetups
  • Partner with our sales, ABX and CX teams to facilitate customer and prospect meetings including CBRs and CABs
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales leadership to define and document the process by which event leads are actioned
  • Provide regular weekly communication to the sales team to keep them up to date with current and upcoming marketing campaigns and events
  • Partner with the Head of Community on the strategy and execution of our Pulumi User Groups (PUGs) working with the sales team to develop the appropriate cadence and topic selection for their region (these are also co-facilitated by our community engineering team)
  • Manage event logistics in support of field programs; from helping to book space to making sure field events have adequate staffing and marketing collateral
  • Track and report on the impact of field marketing events and programs
We’re Looking For Someone With:
  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in a SaaS company
    • Experience marketing to a developer audience is a plus
  • Exemplary communication skills, without fear of over-communicating
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Hands-on experience with community/customer groups
  • Highly collaborative, willing to jump in and be hands-on
  • Experience supporting multiple regions
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Ability to travel on occasion (less than 20%) to support field events
Compensation:
  • Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
  • All full time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus or variable, equity and benefits (details below).

Benefits & Perks at Pulumi:

Health & Wellness:
We offer comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance at no cost to U.S. employees. Internationally, we comply with local healthcare requirements and provide regionally appropriate coverage.

Time Off:
Our unlimited PTO policy encourages balance and rest — and we require employees to take at least three weeks off annually, plus 13 U.S. holidays.

401(k):
U.S. employees are eligible for a 401(k) plan with an employer match to support long-term financial wellness.

Parental Leave:
We provide 20 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents or primary caregivers, and 16 weeks for non-birthing parents or secondary caregivers.

Remote-First Culture:
Pulumi has been fully remote since 2020, with teammates across 20+ U.S. states and 12+ countries. We support flexible work with asynchronous collaboration and an annual “work from anywhere” stipend.

Professional Development:
Every employee receives an annual learning and development budget to support growth, learning, and career goals.

Equity Ownership:
We believe in acting like owners. All employees receive equity and are empowered to think big, move fast, and build the future of cloud together.

Additional Support:
We offer a monthly wellness fund to support mental and physical well-being, and a quarterly happiness fund for team connection or personal use.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
