OVERVIEW OF POSITION
The Director of External Communications leads Notre Dame High School's external communications strategy, advancing the school's brand, voice, and public reputation. This role sets editorial direction and produces written content across school channels, oversees the school website and social media presence setting strategy and standards, and serves as the lead coordinator for communications during emergencies and crises. The Director works closely with leadership, advancement, and administration to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging school-wide.
Responsibilities include:
- Editorial & Content Strategy
- Branding, Website & Social Media Oversight
- Public Relations & Community Engagement
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing ideally in education or non-profit.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience with media relations and public speaking.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and fundraising communications
- Experience overseeing (not necessarily executing) website content management and social media programs.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with brand management principles and content management systems.
- Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Crisis communications experience preferred.
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
