The Director Equity Rewards & Employment Tax is responsible to oversee all global Sandoz equity programs activities, including equity plan lifecycle management, governance, compliance, vendor management, process improvements and simplifications, implementation of new equity plans, policies, practices and procedures, leading equity rewards projects, etc.
In this role you will act as the expert resource for Employment Tax in Rewards, advising on employment tax compliance for Executive Rewards, Equity, Global Mobility, Global Benefits and ways of working (flexible working, business travellers). You will also collaborate with P&O and Group Tax to ensure employment set ups are aligned to corporate legal entity structure.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Equity Rewards

  • Lead the global equity programs during the annual and off-cycle equity compensation processes

  • Lead strategic equity projects and initiatives, as well as any equity aspects related to M&A transactions

  • Coordinate compliant equity plan management and processing, including regulatory plan filings, payroll reporting (together with P&O Services), taxation and mobility related processing (together with Global Mobility), etc.

  • Plan the funding of equity programs together with Treasury and support the monthly share reconciliation process

  • Ensure reliable financial reporting to FRA, including the timely reflection of grant, forfeiture and vesting activities as well as the correct fair market values.

  • Monitor the global equity tax, payroll and regulatory compliance with external vendors and other functions

  • Manage the annual review of tax factsheets with external vendors and guide the communication to the plan participant and countries/payrolls

  • Support the preparation and delivery of the equity data to be included and set out in the remuneration report, say-on-pay, the note to the financial statements, and other corporate reports.

  • Develop communication materials for plan participants and internal customers

  • Perform internal controls and act as the equity point of contact for the external auditor

  • Coordinate the implementation of new requirements and other enhancements, ensure data integrity in collaboration with different stakeholders (e.g., IT, Plan Administrator, Finance, etc.)

  • Manage (external) vendors, monitor vendor KPIs, perform fee negotiations, etc.

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and functions on equity rewards matters, including assessments, analytics, reporting, etc.

Employment Tax

  • Act as an expert resource working with internal teams, including Executive Rewards, Equity Rewards, Benefits and Global Mobility, to ensure employment tax compliance through application of policies, processes, and governance structure.

  • Work closely with Payroll, Global Mobility, and Benefits to ensure correct reporting and employment tax withholding (where applicable) for Sandoz Executives

  • Work closely with Corporate Tax and external vendors (where applicable) to ensure compliant employment set-up aligned to corporate legal entity structure for Sandoz Executives, globally mobile Executives, and other associates with above country responsibility.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential Requirements:

  • University degree in Business / Finance (or equivalent) required

  • Graduate or post-graduate HR and/or tax specialization beneficial

  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential, additional languages are beneficial

  • Strong experience in equity rewards and/or employment tax in multinational company

  • Experience in equity rewards consulting or prior experience with vendor is a plus

  • Experience in corporate or individual tax consulting is advantageous

  • Good understanding of equity rewards trends and experience in plan design and administration

  • Strong understanding of key compensation, benefits and/or mobility philosophies and principles

  • Strong understanding of payroll, social security, tax, and global mobility processes and regulations linked to equity rewards

  • Experience of working in Corporate Tax beneficial

  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
