Job Description

The Director, Enterprise Applications oversees the operation and strategic planning of the applications department and ensures its enterprise applications and distinct software packages align with the business objectives. This individual’s principal goals are leadership in the design, definition and widely use of the applications that support the distinct business units, enhance the effectiveness of the ERP and supported applications, and aligning of the resources under their control to meet the corporate support teams Information Technology goals. The Director, Enterprise Applications will plan, coordinate, and direct all activities related to the development and management of applications that enhance business operations, and associated back-office systems. The Director, Enterprise Applications will work closely with decision makers in SI’s divisions for the purpose to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions. This individual is also responsible for supporting and assisting in the integration of existing and new applications in support of SI’s business objectives. The candidate will oversee the applications department personnel and is a key participant in the development of the IT Strategic Plan.


Primary Duties, Responsibilities:


 Manages ERP (COINS) system software, data management, and reporting systems through a team of knowledgeable direct reports.

 Develop, lead and direct ERP and enterprise applications operations and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, support, as well as organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

 Accountable for the oversight of all business applications.

 Provide the applications users with the training and support to enable them to use these tools for maximum business effect.

 Provide development and support assistance to ensure enterprise and packaged applications are functional, effective and available.

 Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of related software based on department needs.

 Oversee the deployment of BIM applications and distinct packages such as Revit, AutoCAD, and other AutoDesk products. Experience in the deployment of engineering applications is a plus.

 Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, BIM, construction industry including current technologies. Advise, counsel, and educate executive team and division leaders on their competitive or financial impact.

 Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of the Applications staff in accordance with budgetary objectives and personnel policies.

 Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to VP IT, department business leaders, support staff, and end users.

 Review performance of supported applications to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.

 Benchmark, analyze report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of applications

 Overarching responsibility and provides guidance for best practices framework (ex. ITIL, and Life Cycle Management) for the support and sustainability of all enterprise level software applications

 Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.

 Direct research on potential applications solutions and technologies, implementations in support of new initiatives and opportunities.

 Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor or outsourcer and service agreements.

 Manage strategic relationships between internal IT resources, distinct business units, end users, vendors, and partner organizations.

 Manage financial budgets, resources, and relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and business partners.

 Provide leadership and direction with regards to technology, vendors, business partners, policy, and standards.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


 Considerable knowledge of engineering, accounting, and mathematical principles required to analyze computer systems needs and design and implement software solutions in an ERP environment.

 Knowledge of computer program design and development methodology.

 Knowledge of computer logic, block diagramming, and flow-charting.

 Knowledge of standard computer languages and operating systems.

 Knowledge of LEAN planning and analysis tools (A3 Reports, Value Stream Mapping, Choosing By Advantages).  Extensive experience in leading, managing, and developing the enterprise applications portfolio, ensuring interoperability and responsiveness to business needs.  Ability to plan, direct, and review the activities of technical personnel involved in the design, development, and implementation of applications packaged programs in an ERP environment.

 Excellent verbal and communications skills to be able to communicate effectively with senior level staff to determine data processing needs and programs needed to provide required data.

 Ability to provide regular technical reports both verbal and statistical showing status of ongoing projects.

 Ability to analyze financial and technical data for the purpose of developing and implementing technological solutions to distinct business units.

 Ability to travel, between 20% - 30% of the time,  Divisions, project offices, and/or other destinations as necessary.


Qualifications


 Master’s degree preferred, with extensive experience in Finance, accounting, or related field from an accredited college or university.  Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a technology services field resulting in direct management of IT units.  Minimum of 7-10 years managing an Enterprise Applications team.

 5-10 years construction industry background or relevant experience a plus with project management background.

 10+ years’ experience developing information technology solutions.

 Demonstrate experience and knowledge of ERP, enterprise level applications packages, financial, complex data structures, and reporting systems.

 Possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills combined with demonstrated team management capabilities.

 Project management experience in a construction environment is a plus.

 Demonstrate knowledge and experience around the development and management of the software lifecycle for commercial and custom applications and data environments.

 Strong experience with change management processes.

 ITIL process experience (specifically change management and configuration management).

 Ability to function in a mission-critical capacity including setting and following organizational priorities.
