About The Role

OpenLoop is looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Engineering to join our team in our new Nashville, TN office.  In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development of our technology roadmap, lead high-performing engineering teams, and integrating advanced and scalable solutions into our digital health platform.


**Please Note: This role will be hybrid full-time. Until the new office is ready, you’ll be able to work remotely from home, with the expectation of moving onsite once the space is open.


What You’ll Do:
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight across engineering functions (platform, infrastructure, product development & DevOps).
  • Drive the development and implementation of scalable, secure, and compliant healthcare software solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Clinical, and Data teams to define and execute the technical vision.
  • Partner with our teams to build and scale AI-driven features that enhance clinical workflows, patient engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead hiring, mentoring, and development of engineering talent, promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate build vs. buy decisions for critical technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8-10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading and scaling engineering teams in high-growth startups or tech-forward healthcare environments.
  • Experience implementing AI/ML solutions, especially in healthcare or enterprise software.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-based architecture (e.g., AWS, GCP), modern frameworks, and API design.
  • Experience with distributed systems, serverless technologies, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical strategy into business outcomes.
  • Passionate about improving healthcare delivery through technology.
