Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Organizational Health: Lead the Trust & Safety engineering org, defining multi-quarter roadmaps in partnership with cross-functional leadership. Hire and coach engineering managers, creating clear growth paths and fostering a culture of high standards, psychological safety, and accountability.
  • Execution Excellence: Drive predictable delivery, balancing urgent risk response with long-term platform investments. Establish scalable operating rhythms for planning, technical reviews, and incident learnings.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide oversight for T&S platforms (detection, enforcement, appeals, identity) and ensure strong system design for privacy-conscious workflows. Drive excellence in observability, data quality, and safety-critical development standards.
  • Partnerships: Build relationships with Match Group leaders to share patterns and align on capabilities. Translate industry trends (e.g., AI threats, regulatory changes) into actionable strategy and rigorous build-vs-buy decisions.
  • AI Change Management: In close partnership with Product and AI leaders, modernize enforcement and user experiences with AI-enabled workflows that are measurable, accountable, and trusted by users.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 10+ years in software engineering (distributed systems at scale) and 2+ years managing managers with a track record of scaling healthy teams.
  • Technical Judgment: Strong grasp of architecture, reliability, data/ML-adjacent systems, and mobile + backend collaboration.
  • Domain Expertise: Intuition for Trust & Safety domains such as abuse prevention, fraud, moderation workflows, identity, or user reporting.
  • Operational Agility: Comfort operating in high-urgency environments, managing incident response without sacrificing long-term quality.
  • Strategic Thinking: Relentless focus on driving user value whilst navigating regulatory requirements.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to influence across executive leadership, Legal/Policy partners, and external stakeholders.
